I'm ready to give Evans a good contract, he's been one of our better players this year despite point production, and he's logging tons of PK time as well. Yes, he isn't a top 6 guy, but he's not very easily replaceable.

We've "given" away way too many hardworking players of this type, like Lehkonen.

I dont see how you can make a case for anybody but Evans and maybe Mazatta but there's better 13th forward vets out there imo..

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Dach-Laine-Demidov
Anderson-Evans-Gallagher
Roy-Kapanen-Heineman.

We have to keep some room. Roy will have two years of pro experience after this year and he is interesting enough as a prospect to give him a chance. He wont really benefit much form AHL TOI after this year. Same for Kapanen. At worse those guys are as good as Armia and this is the worst case scenario. And we have to try those guys before it's too late in 3 years we'll likely be trying to win it wont be time to try guys anymore.
The main selling point for Armia is he's a guy we can bury in defensive zone starts and PK ice time. With your 4th line, that's a line we need to shelter. He's also a guy that it makes sense to use as the 13th forward who will sit a bunch. And sorry but no the worst case situation isn't the prospects are as good as Armia, the worst case is they are guys who will end up busts/career AHL/euro-league players in which case Armia is better.

Currently 6 ufa 's on the roster Dvorak Armia Evans Pezetta Condotta Savard

Would be shocked if it was more than 1 or 2
In an ideal world only Evans. I am okay with Savard resigning for 2 years if Rein and/or Mailloux is not ready.

All else gotta go.

Our team needs are a top 2 centre and a 1st or second pair RD.

Team of the future.......

Laine - ***** - Demidov
Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Newhook - Hage - Dach
Heinemen - Evans - Xhekaj

Hutson - Reinbacher
Guhle - Mailloux
Xhekaj - *******
Struble

At forward a 1st or 2nd line centre is a must to fill in that gap. Hage could potentially reach Suzuki heights....but ideally we get a 100+ point centre somewhere to pair with Demidov as a 100 pt winger. Perhaps drafting Misa???

On D there is still a lot of unknown in what we have with Reinbacher and Mailloux. I listed a perfect world scenario there, but there is a very real possibility that we need a #1. How and where is anyones guess. Do we grab Schaefer as a future LD and let Guhle stay on his off side?

We aren't getting Misa and Schaefer though.

Maybe we get lucky with the Calgary pick and select Misa and Hensler

Evans. Thats it. I mean. Thisnis the only guy I would sign if the price is right. He still can be a servicable 4th center and play some game on the third line

Sure, if Evans wants to take a decent contract I'd extend him. But if he wants more money, then he can go. You can find his type of player in the offseason to fill the gap.

A 3rd rounder in my pocket to use is better than nothing. It's not impossible for a team to offer a 2nd rounder close to the deadline for some of these guys.

C Cizikas type contract but maybe with some inflation factored in. Doubt we sign Evans to 6 years though.

I'd say $2.75M for 5 years is a good spot (with future cap increases factored in). Helps solidity the bottom 6 center depth.

Is Evans going to earn himself out of Montreal?

If he want to maximize his next contract, he might. Habs are interested in retaining but we are not paying UFA bloated prices. That's how I feel about it anyways.

Evans but how much it takes? If Dach gets back to his old self be one less center we need. Beck will take his place. If Dach doesn't better chance Evans is signed.

Montreal might trade for a big contract or sign a UFA. Caproom could be tight.

Evans I would be willing to sign depending on the term and AAV. He could also have the most value at the trade deadline so he could be traded. If traded I would assume he and the Habs couldn't get an extension signed so they traded him instead of losing him for nothing

Evans return on a friendly deal.

Armia I think will go to a contender. Armia similar to his entire career, a lot of on / off stretches where the effort is questioned. I feel it’s best he is traded and not retained in the offseason.

Savard is slowing down. I feel even as a veteran we can bring in younger vet potentially.

Dvorak no need for. Pezzetta and Condotta I feel can easily be replaced.

The team overall is struggling. Those are all depth players, that I believe all need to changed for a fresh new look.

Gallagher and Anderson already likely are returning so. I feel outside of Evans the rest go and get a fresh reset and feel like they are moving out from underneath Bergevin’s remaining pieces.

If Evans and Dvorak leave, the Canadiens have to acquire a couple of centres.

Internally I don't see any centres ready to play a regular NHL role next season.

Free agency for good players often results in a bad contract, so would definitely try to keep Evans. He would not be easy to replace. Wouldn't blame him though if he'd like see what's out there, this may be his best chance to get a long-term contract.
