Happy Birthday @Ugene Magic …mine’s right on your heels lol

I’m still waiting for a game against Carolina where Sullivan actually moves Geno away from Staal…horrible matchup…get our best scorer away from him! Idiot coach…

Yeah, who knows what Sully will do.

Hope yours falls on a game night. I'll let you pick the Metallica song to hitch to the GDT.

Evgeni Malkin getting multiple points again is all I'm here for at this point.

Also, Happy Birthday mate @Ugene Magic may the Penguins be less wankbuckety for this game for you.

Edit: Also for the sake of Joel Blomqvist not getting destroyed early in his career, I hope the Penguins try to minimize shots on him by actually attempting to employ some sort of defensive structure that is NHL caliber in this game, we need this lad to be our future goalie for a long time, we've failed twice already and dealt away the last young goalie I wanted as the future #1 (might shock absolute plums here but it was Gustavsson, never Jarry).

I feel like Staal gets like half his yearly goal totals just from the games played against the Penguins.

So like.,.. four.
I've come to really loathe the Staal family with their ignorant thinking and what not, so I don't care for Gronk anymore at all, I hope Cody Glass destroy's him with a clean hit.

Yep, the 29th against Minn…
Damn mate, that will be an emotional one, Fleury playing for the final time in Pittsburgh. Like him or not, he'll always hold a special place for a lot of us, such an absolutely awesome human being that has had a career that most didn't expect out of him nor did most hope for it to be frank.

But the tributes, the trio taking Pics with MAF as the OG Franchise players - Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Fleury...that'll be a special one for your Bday.

We’ve played a ton of games and other teams have played like two.

Would be nice to at least get a point.

Jordy Staal will be a good for a goal against, no doubt.

Hopefully Blomqvist starts to give us a chance.
Staal always scores key goals. Jarry always likes to give up key goals. Hmmmm??
Great that Blombqvist is starting, hoping he can buck that rend.

Now I'm not going to go back and verify if my bias is based in reality and that it was always Jarry (and not Ned) against Carolina, which would break my narrative, and that wouldn't be any fun :D.

I am hopeful about tonight as we actually seem to have 4 real lines, which lines up well conceptually against a team like Carolina. I am also happy that it looks like Sully isn't going to play musical chairs just yet.

Let's go Pens!

I hope Malkin didn't use all his energy to get those milestones and now get back to "38 year old"
Overall, I’m expecting a let down after the emotions of Wednesday night…Carolina is a super boring opponent to play lol…put Blom in net and go all out with offense to generate some early goals, leaving him exposed to a ton of breakaways like he had against the Sabres …..hopefully if we get ahead we can figure out how to trap the rest of the game..if Carolina has to push for some offense, we’re in a better position to win…lol…fingers crossed…this has been a bad matchup for us and Sullivan seems to play right in Brind’Amour’s hands

The one game we won in March against them, 4-1, Ned was in net lol…actually the other game we won against them last season (both at home), Ned was in net…he had some crazy save % against CAR last season…

Jordan and Jake -versus- Geno and Sid

Why the Canes only played two games so far?
NJ with seven games played.

There’s a cool video out there by hockey psychology that looks at how he’s changed his game. Basically instead of trying to beat guys he’s adjusted to slowing down the game and creating space for his teammates similar to what Sid does.

I doubt he’ll lead the league but I can definitely see him getting ppg+ if he can continue to play this way.

He definitely has changed his game to draw coverage away from his line mates and then distribute to the middle or low to high, but even in pre-season, me and a few buddies at hockey were saying how he looks a lot quicker this year. He can still knife through guys probably smoother than anyone else in the league when he's breaking in or gaining the zone with speed on anyone even remotely flat-flooted. Cool to watch him still be able to do that, but the new style he has been playing is definitely more conducive to more consistent offensive chances while still eliminating or at least mitigating a good deal of risk in transition.

I have to roll my eyes a LITTLE that some of the commentary in the wake of 500 and his hot start is "Sullivan fixed him." The Yohe article was especially egregious. But I mean... the point that Malkin needs to change his game with age is a valid one so I'm not gonna bellyache too much. It's just kinda funny.
