Kings Vision: 6/2/15 - Lombardi Media Conference Call

I guess Dean should just show all of his cards and lay out his exact plans to everybody. That's exactly how pro sports managers operate.

I don't understand the timing or the purpose of the call? Did he say a single thing of importance?

Sekera: Kings made an offer and are waiting for a counter. Duh.
Unsure of what to do until we know the salary cap. Duh.
Voynov and Stoll were a distraction. Duh.
Kopitar and Doughty need to work harder in the offseason: same exact statement 6(?) offseasons in a row.
Young core needs to take another step: same exact statement 8(?) offseasons in a row.

If he has nothing new to say, why even bother holding a 30+ minute conference call?

End of season media scrums have been pretty common in sports. Just that the Kings didn't have one until now.

I don't know if these are mandatory or not but it gives reporters something to put the Kings' name in the news until there is something to report on (that doesn't involve a court hearing).

It's going to be awfully quiet in terms of news funneling through until we get to the draft and free agency.

It may be time to update your avatar.

And byline.

Just saying.

"I've taken KingPuckChoo's posts to heart and have realized the decision to trade for Sekera and not Petry was a monumental mistake. That first rounder could become anything. I am officially stepping done."

Sounds like your about to be part of a 60's rock band or something like that. "I'm officially stepping done now baby" etc. No? No problema. It is one of those kind of days.

I think you are confusing Dean with Dave Taylor. :)

it wasn't a critique, a good GM shouldn't reveal his hand either

i'm just sooooo freakin' IMPATIENNTTT !!!

A long off season was after they lost to Colorado in Game 7 in 2001, I remember it not only for the loss of Luc Robitaille after he led the team in scoring, but their off-season consisted of signing Steve Heinze, Rob Valicevic, and Randy Robitaille.

Now those are summer months I don't yearn for, when this team would scrape up from the bottom of the barrel.

Richards is gone. I thought the interview was very telling in the sense of disappointment. Running theme with Dean is that he is tired of players not coming into camp in shape. MR takes off after committing last season and then takes off again.

No way he dresses in a LA uniform again.

Also, I greatly respected the fact that he is bringing in outsiders to help deal with the stress of being in the spotlight to prevent legal issues (domestic violence included). He took responsibility for not doing something about it sooner. While I never considered LA management to be part of Voynov's or Stoll's off ice behavior, the fact that DL is proactive in this regard to help keep his players safe and on the right track to be reflective of a GM who cares about his team.
