think he's talking about if we lose our RFAs.. I think we keep them though, maybe even Gabs too?
That's it exactly. I also think it will be a negative if we have to lose Gaborik, as I think Gabby is the better player. I was also just reacting to the "people who were against the trade must not have watched Nash in Columbus" comments. The first few games of this season was EXACTLY what Nash was like in Columbus--pretty hockey that resulted in losses.
If his name was Dubinsky or Anisimov and people were going on and on about pretty plays (AA) or defensive effort (Dubi), those of you who were in favor of the trade would have (and don't deny it) screamed "that's fine, but defense and dangles are a dime a dozen. He's getting paid to score goals and he's not doing it!" Nash isn't getting 7million plus to put in effort on defense or rack up secondary assists. He's getting that coin to score goals. Over the course of an 82 game season, he would currently be on pace for 16 to 17 of them.
I'm thrilled the team is playing as well as it is tonight. Frankly, I think it has a lot more to do with Del Zotto than Nash. As I've said a couple times now though--1: It's way too early to judge either way. 2: I hope that, when we DO have a big enough sample size, that I'm the one eating crow. I don't WANT to be right about Nash. All I'll say is that I still have some reservations about what kind of player he is and how much he can help (or hurt) this team.
