Would Preds fans here prefer a prettyyy good center prospect, or like a quite good prospect at C + a very good goalie prospect?

I am inspired by this rumor which initially came, I believe, from Pierre LeBrun, saying that at the 2023 draft, NAS offered I believe the picks 15 + 24 + Askarov for the pick 5, which MON denied to pick Reinbacher. Since then, Askarov has been traded and we already start hearing comments that NAS should have held on to Askarov a tad longer, and that now they should look for a goalie prospect.

It seems Habs have a very good one in Fowler... And I know NAS is looking for a center prospect at this draft. Habs are looking for a 2C long term to play with the young guys already here... So would NAS fans consider something like Fowler + Hage for pick 5? Or maybe Habs should add the pick 16 or 17 with that package?

In my mind, Habs do that if Desnoyers is still on board. Maybe Frondell (I'm pretty sure one of both, or both, will be out of the board by pick 5). But are Preds fans gonna call me crazy for even considering this?

On behalf of Habs fans, I apologize.
This is why I don't do straight up proposals. I genuinely don't know how Fowler is seen around the other fandoms. But I would accept being told that this starting point for the Habs is way too insufficient.

It's IMO extremely likely that Desnoyers will go at 3 or 4, and the other 3/4 pick will be either Martone or Frondell. You should I think pencil in that Nashville's 5th overall pick is James Hagens.

Nashville has wanted a top center prospect for basically their entire existance. They got one or two. Legwand comes to mind. They REALLY want and REALLY need an elite center prospect. They've been waiting and waiting.

Now they finally (probably) have Hagens... and you're asking them to trade him away. Let's just say that the offer is gonna have to blow them away.

EDIT - ALSO, if Nashville wants a high end goalie prospect, they can take Ravensbergen at 23rd overall or 26th overall.

I think Ravensbergen will be out between 19 and 21, but regardless, the argument is very fair.

Nashville has a ton of prospect depth...a lot of good prospects, a lot of recent first rounders, and a lot more picks coming up including already having 4 1sts and 4 2nds in these next two drafts. They don't have their north star prospect to pivot into a new era with.

Liquidating the 5th overall - where they stand a pretty good chance of landing Hagens or Porter - for more good quality depth is the last thing they should be doing.

If anything, they could stand to consolidate to try and make moves up themselves to take stabs at actual franchise direction changing talent.

What I read was, two years ago, you offered two 1st round picks a and your top prospect for the 5 OA which we turned down, so now we are offering much less (not even one of our multiple 1sts) for the 5 OA.

Well, in fairness at 5 OA Michkov was available, not to mention your choice of d-men. There was more (at least perceived) high end talent available at the top of the draft than there is here. Everything is relative.

Doesn't really make sense from a Nashville perspective. Get the best Center prospect we've had as a team in forever at 5th overall, grab Medvedev or Andreyanov with our later 2nd.

Nashville is stuck with Saros' contract for a while and will probably have to deal with an expansion draft or two so having an older goalie prospect that will be up for grabs while having to protect Saros and his NMC isn't good

Not really. They already have multiple 1sts and good prospects. What they need is a top blue chip prospect.
And this is the real point. No team will ever give up a blue chipper for supporting players, now matter how much you offer them. If they see someone at 5 who will be a cornerstone of their franchise, you can throw Hage, Mailloux, Fowler and both firsts and it might not move the needle. Obviously that's different if they don't see the options at 5 being foundational pieces.

Maybe we should add Demidov and slaf just in case holly f#$$ man you are completely crazy

That doesn’t get it done. I think 16 + 17 + a C prospect like Beck might be more enticing to Nashville. That being said, it’s still highly unlikely they pull the trigger on that trade - Just like Montreal didn’t pull the trigger on Nashville’s offer two years ago.

In fairness, I stopped reading at Hage + Fowler and didn't even see that you also threw out adding 16 + 17 to it, which actually makes it worse but in the other direction.

Reality is, goalies have less value than players due to unpredictability. Then you add on to it that a pile of magic beans will always be viewed as more valuable than players that have experience under their belt.

Montreal refused to do a similar trade a couple of years ago and now you expect Trotz to do the same? He probably hangs up the phone having a good belly laugh.
