Michkov really needs work on his first three strides.
It’s an interesting case study. I said this in preseason, but how Michkov wins is through chaining a lot of good plays together without the easy solo transition offense of many stars. He can win that way; it’s just outlier territory and requires more going right each sequence.
Objectively, if he ends up a 90-100 point player, would he be the worst skating primary option of any NHL superstar? I think people would be floored to see Kucherov’s skating data (80-90th percentile usually). Even Kaprizov is more a 70th percentile skater. (TLDR: just need to add Bump and Barkey and not another elite player.)
