Hey remember that little guy who used to play defense for us? Zelwinger or something? He was pretty good. What ever happened to him?

What makes me giggle is….

If the shoe was on the other foot, and we won 3 straight against bad teams but Zelly was in for helleson all those games. If Cronin swapped them before this game, it would be “what an idiot, why break up the winning lineup?” You know things if they nature.

I say that as someone who thinks Zelly should and will draw tonight as his game is more suited against Calgary / he’s just better than helleson and it’s a must win.

But I do want to point out the hypocrisy that would happen if the opposite situation happened.

I'm surprised at the anger over Zellweger, honestly. He was great at the beginning of the season but has been pretty bad/meh since then.

His whole thing is being good at offense and okay at defense, and he's pointless in the last 8 games he's played.

I'm not worried about him long term and I think it is good to get reps in, but I don't get the rush to bring him in when the team has been decent to good this week.

I would be surprised not to see Zellweger in tonight just because he's from Calgary. That shouldn't matter if someone clearly merits the spot over him, but the vibe they seem to be trying to give off is "all the kids are on similar footing and it's just a shame we can't play all of them." Scratching him for a fourth straight game when it's against his hometown team would do some damage to that narrative, IMO.

You're making up scenarios to feel superior about again. When has anyone argued "it's stupid to break up a winning lineup" in a vacuum? Nobody here has ever clamored for, say, Johnston to stay in the lineup after winning with him in. How did Zellweger himself look in those theoretical three winning games against bad teams?

Besides that, you destroy your own argument here. "I think Zelly should play because this is a must win and he's just better than Helleson, but you guys who are mad that the better player is being scratched are such hypocrites because in a theoretical situation where Zelly had been playing, you'd also be mad if the better player got scratched."

lol Pitt was playing really well coming into that game, NSH had won 4 in a row coming in and Seattle has been in the playoff hunt all year. How pessimistic are we going to be? we are turning into Anti-fans

If Zell is the better player, why Would people not be pissed about him leaving the lineup? I don’t think it’s so much about breaking up the lineup after wins.

That's a really tough gap to make up, actually, with four teams they would have to leapfrog to get in, and the Ducks with a worse goal differential than all of them.

I would love for the Ducks to make a playoff run. But their performance to this point compared to the performance of the teams ahead of them makes that very unlikely. I'll root for it until it's impossible, but it's ok to be realistic about the chances.

I’m not trying to feel superior and not making things up. I was responded to two people asking about Zelly, and multiple people are still complaint about his lack of playing time.

And im not trying to argue anything, just laughing that people would be upset if Zelly got scratched after we won 3 in a row, but I assume people asking where he is, implying negative things, mean they want him in.

Just because i agree he should get in, I spelt out a reason why, he is better suited for the tempo the game should be with the flames.

Not just development bad / Cronin bad.

I can think Zelly should play, but also not be upset if he doesn’t change the lineup that won 3 in a row.

But like I said, what do you think would happen….. honestly.

If we win the next 3 games with Zelly and Minty in, then sub helleson for one of them ? Would this sub not be pissed off ? If you think they’d be happy and go, Cronin making chess moves !!!! Cronin is so smart helping develop these kids…. You’d be lying to yourself.
