Post-Game Talk: #5 Wild at Ducks

The games against the Wild are always fun. Even in regular season, it's always a bit of playoff-mentality from both teams. I think another meeting in the postseason would take this neat rivalry to the next level.

Also, it's kinda nice to be hated a little more around the league again. :)

Main board thread is funny. Kesler is even more hated than Perry. I remember the last time everyone hated the Ducks and the Ducks' players, that worked out pretty well.

Yay for wins! The ginger ninja is awesome. Whatever Hilary Knight did to him is working :naughty:

Wild boards and main boards is a great supply of tears for me to consume and help me sleep well tonight

objectively speaking anaheim should have lost(minnesota had 3 ridiculous chances where the puck bounced), i don't think we've played that good of a game yet against a quality opponent, anaheim seemed slow for much of the game and the team speed has seemed to be lacking so far

I really want Etem to succeed but he's not doing it. It seems that every line he's on struggles. Always does the wrong thing and is always in the wrong place.

Andersen did great to not let a semi-weak goal bother him. He was confident all night.

Refs let the game get away. The hooks and holds being let go turned into slashes and crosschecks being let go which turns into frustration and big runs like at the end there.

The ice was about as horrible as it could be. It saddens me that our arena constantly has bad ice. (Yes I know there was bball there last night)

The Ducks bent and didn't break. Minnesota plays a frustrating system, but it was an exciting game none the less.

Cogliano was the Ducks tonight. When the rest of team was getting outworked, he picked up ALL the slack. New Pahlsson is god?

I just watched the game - I have one massive complaint and that's how bad the ice was. When skilled guys like Getzlaf, Perry and Vanek are fumbling pucks every shift there is something wrong. It took away from the game as a whole and the refs forgetting the rules regarding interference didn't help.

As for the teams on the ice - Minnesota dominated us and very much deserved to win.

I thought Andersen played well (although he should have stopped the Zucker shot). Lindholm turned the puck over constantly but thought he had a strong second half. Stoner had a rough game and I thought Beauchemin and Vatanen were our two best blueliners. The forwards looked out of synch and like there was no chemistry but I attribute that to the ice being so bad. Cogs was good, he and DSP were our two best forwards IMO.

I like that if **** hits the fan at the end of the game that our top guys (Beauch, Getz, Kesler etc) are big and strong enough to handle themselves against anyone other teams players that will be out there in the final minutes of the game except maybe the Bruins.

Minnesota having a cry about something? Colour me shocked. Can't believe anyone from Minnesota is whining about the (clean) hit after all the **** they got away with all game.

We were horrible mind you, defence is still lost out there the fact we can barely pass it out of the zone is a huge worry. Minnesota missed 3 open nets, so we got pretty lucky.

Only really started to turn when we started forechecking hard and beating down Minnesota, we won't beat them on skill.

The big worry there was that it was Fowler & Lindholm who made a lot of the turnovers. Those two and Stoner but I kinda expect that from Stoner.

I'd like to think it was the ice and it was a one off kind of game for those two.

Yeah I noticed that with Fowler and Lindholm too. I'm sure I saw Lindholm have 3 giveaways in 1 shift in the 1st period, thankfully he seemed to bounce back strongly as the game went on.

I'm a bit worried about Fowler, he just hasn't been making good decisions often this season. Not sure if it's a confidence thing or a lingering injury issue from pre-season, but we need him to be playing better given how the defence is at the moment.

But like you said, it might of been the ice. The puck was bouncing like crazy all night.

Come on guys...help me out here. I'll ask again, for my fantasy team, should I get rid of Etem? And if so...I still want a Duck on my team so...DSP? or Beleskey?

Thanks.

DSP should produce more than Beleskey long term and gets credited with a ton of hits although Beleskey is no slouch in the hitting department either. I'd probably take both over Etem fantasy wise (and in terms of on ice play) at this point and would lean towards DSP short term also.

Hey guys, Wild fan here. What's up with the ice quality @ Honda C? Is it always that bad or does the basketball game have a lot to do with that?

I don't really blame Minny fans for their whining. They just spent a week between games being told that their team was the most amazing thing ever. Then it turns out all they are is one game over .500.

So, Parise gets away with murder, Kesler retaliates by bodychecking Granlund, and Minnesota fans are upset with the message that is being sent? Wow.
