Well, we went 3-1 which exceeded everyone's expectations and we're solidly occupying a playoff spot. I think a lot of guys were happy with 9 or 10 points out of this big trip and we've already banked 6.

So, from here,

28th Winnipeg
29th Minnesota
2nd Dallas
3rd St. Louis
7th Detroit

I haven't heard a peep about Forsberg and Ullmark has back tightness. Who knows how long that takes.

I'm still good with 10 points overall from the extended trip, but 2 of them have to come from Winnipeg/Minnesota. Otherwise it's a 3 game losing streak and we need to avoid that.

Actually one win in each of the two 2 game road trips. Beat Detroit. That's 12 points total. Blows way past my expectations

Get. It. Done.

I wonder if Ullmark just played too much in the stretch ahead of the Edmonton game? That bit of rest allowed everything to tighten up? Might need to adjust his treatment regime if the thought is to continue leaning on him, or plan more frequent breaks to avoid the situation.

That said, there's a piece of me that really wants him to play the first 4 games back, then take a nice break and let Forsberg (or whomever) have Detroit. Or, Ullmark the first 3, back up vs St. Louis, back to Ullmark in Detroit (divisional game).

Whatever the case, need to address the back up position because Ullmark playing 80% is NOT sustainable (bring back Daccord).

Just noting that 4 of those games are back to backers. 28th 29th.
2nd 3rd.
I was hoping for 4-5, 4-4-1, 5-4 out of the 9 game trip.
I hope we got 2-2-1 and then we would be 5-3-1 on the 9 game trip.
3 - 2, maybe 1 of those w's is via o/t or s/o - that's what I'm hoping for. Ullmark can only reasonably play 3 of those 5, any more and I think he's risking injury.

Winnipeg - tough; Minnesota - some recent struggles, winnable; Dallas - tough; St. Louis - winnable; Detroit - very winnable.

I'd start Ullmark vs. Minnesota, Dallas, Detroit.

With how things go with this team, I'm expecting to lose all of them.

I still remember that 13 game winning streak that was sandwiched between two 5 game losing streaks back in like 2010.

The only game we should win, on paper, is against Detroit. St Louis is a toss up but the other three teams are clearly much better than us.

I think we need 5 points for this stretch to be considered successful.

I think 5 points is the goal with at least 2 coming against Detroit. I know it's at the end of the road trip but we could compete with them for a playoff spot so Detroit can't win those 2 points.

This is going to be the beginning of the end of this great run. The missing presence of Ullmark will put the final nail in the coffin. Please prove me wrong.

Just nit picking, but that means that 2 (not 4) of those games are back to backs, being the 29th and the 3rd.

I've been very, very pleased with their play so far. Goaltending has been top notch for the past stretch and I think our team defence still has room to improve. If it does, watch out.

Big test against Winnipeg on the 28th. Should be a good one

Winnipeg-Minny-Dallas is as tough a 3 game stretch as you'll get in the NHL this year.

Hopefully we can manage 2-3 points there and then try to make hay against the Blues and Wings.
