We already established who the real Miss Chicago is and it's Beetlejuice (not saying it 3 times in fear she reappears).
While that's obviously tempting, Nashville can realistically walk away from the 1st with Fiddler and Boumedienne on defense, plus Dobson only improves our line up which harms our chances at McKenna. Can't speak for Islanders GM but I think if Hagens is on the board and we draft Schaeffer, Dobson might become available(not that I want to trad Dobson but I realize he probably is our best assets to get something of value back, and given he will be a UFA in 2026(he will be a RFA this summer) when you factor in the capspace it makes sense if we get a high end prospect back
Preds want to pick at #5. I don't think there's a reasonable offer that will get them to move off that.
If the new GM did that, he should be fired. That’s something Peter Chiarelli level stupid.Say, with Hagens on the board, the new NYI management contacts Trotz and offers Dobson+Ritchie for the pick....
Considering he'd still have 2 more firsts and 2 more seconds (thus, 9 more picks) in the bag, has that got Trotz's attention?
It’s more of the latter based on how people have been talking.I think you are assuming a lot of you think NYI is guaranteed to take Schaefer at #1 right now. Or that Hagens would fall to #5.
Therein lies the problem. You cant only put out once and then the magic is gone.Okay, okay... the girl who puts out that everyone wants to dance with.
Hagens falling to #5 is nearing on impossible but anything can happen. I would not call it a lock that NYI takes the guy who only played 17 games this year at #1 though. It’s more of the latter based on how people have been talking.
It’s not a lock by any means but the smart move for the Isles is to work in secrecy and hold their cards tight so no one knows who they’ll take. If they want to make a deal, do it on draft day on the floor last minute so ultimately it forces a team to come up big to get that #1 pick for the Isles to move down. To move down and get a couple mediocre picks or a project prospect in order to help another team out is just poor asset management by the Isles.Hagens falling to #5 is nearing on impossible but anything can happen.
