U17: 5-nations tournament in Czechia Chomutov

I'm by no means an expert, a scout nor have I really fully focused on any of these players specifically during games and I'm not sure if these are considered as the top guys by others but from what I've seen (which isn't a huge amount) I've liked these guys:

Dmen:
Samu Alalauri and Juho Piiparinen who seem like the top guys for the Finns overall right now
Max Laatikainen
Vertti Svensk is an 07 but his skating will raise interest alone though he needs to produce more I think
Suominen
Eelis Uronen

Forwards:
Oscar Hemming has been catching my eye every game I've seen him play in and I think the most likely to be a 1st rounder as of now from the forwards at least, someone more knowledgeable might disagree though

I think these next 5 F's have the most potential to be risers into possible 1st or maybe high 2nd rounders if they aren't somewhere around the 2nd in preliminary rankings:

Oliver Suvanto
Vilho Vanhatalo
Viljo Kahkonen
Olli Wahlroos
Wilmer Kallio

These next ones could also take big steps but maybe not necessarily as much potential as the first 5 (although with size being a thing that may get players rated higher, Arkko, Pakarinen and Vatjus have that going for them and a good, productive season might propel them up more than some might expect)

Luka Arkko
Jiko Laitinen
Noel Pakarinen
Anttoni Uronen
Rasmus Rinne
Tino Kossila
Miko Vatjus

I could've just listed them from 1 to 19 but anyways hopefully this makes some sense and isn't completely ridiculous
I liked Alalauri during the WHC17. Agree he’s a first rounder. Wahlroos also looked good.

Don’t know the others as well, but I’m glad to see Finland produce some better players than the last few drafts.

Agreed.

There definitely has been way too much doom and gloom about Finnish players. It's the era of overreaction and overcorrection IMO. Small country has a boom of multiple years of elite talent of whom some reach their potential, some exceed it and some fall short for various reasons and because people have decided to focus on the ones who didn't/haven't reached their potential, suddenly every age group is viewed negatively and any player who gets even mentioned as a relatively high pick, he's immediately being compared to a player who didn't reach his potential and people start to talk about how the country can't do anything right when it comes to hockey.

If not next year, then 2027 I think will have multiple 1st rounders and really good players and the years after that aren't looking bad either when it comes to a few notable players already, though it's early of course.

We played even worse today than yesterday lol. Switzerland defended very well and we couldnt get into their zone most of the time. Switzerland clearly better in every aspect and Sweden were just meh and trash tbh.

Hard to believe almost the same core won bronze at U17

The problem is lack of fighting spirit imo. Same team won 8-3 last time over switzerland and now this meh performance. Bartholdsson, Nordmark and Hermansson is there but they just floating around. Although Hermansson showed up more today
Not quite the same team when Elofsson & Malte played last time.

I think Suominen got headshot and left game first shift. Also Aarni Riihimäki got injured in game 1 so Ahmajärvi is now backup

Only caught the 1st period of the Czechia-Finland game but again the Finns just couldn't score no matter what. Could've/should've had probably 3-4 goals from the chances in the 1st. Idk if they had good chances in the 2nd and 3rd periods but seems like they have made both goalies into "heroes".

Slovakia 3-2 Sweden

I think we really needed this win, its been a pretty bad season no just for U17.

Looks like Switzerland and Finland could be even tougher opponents than Sweden. Lets see if we can get one more win.

Well this tournament didnt go as i expected. Losing 6-0 Vs Czechia and the third period hasnt even started yet its something. I said before in another thread that this age group is deep and on par with our 07's, how wrong i was.

Team has been shit all tournament, they shouldnt have won vs Finland

A disastrous tournament for Sweden and Finland by the looks of it even if it is a friendly and "pointless" one. Finland has seemingly managed to outplay or at least have a tight game with their opponents when it came to attacking but bad defending, individual mistakes and bad goaltending has been their downfall. Sweden from what I've seen and read has been more or less just bad if not horrible at times. Players already thinking about summer vacation probably

Yeah, not good at all. Its the end of the season so i give them this horrible showing but jesus lol. Looking like Qatar out there

Some real bizarre Czech scores.. anyone explain what happened? Did we send our U20 squad by accident?
I didnt Watch the game but the SOG stats speaks by itself, 39-18 to Czechia. So a very deserved win! Swedens roster are good on paper, but this tournament, we have been outplayed every game which is not that common.

It's not at all.. Czechs traditionally struggle in these tourney against Sweden. Just seems weird. Maybe food poisoning

I guess its just was a fluke performance, the season is ending and the player have their minds set on vacation and all that.. mentality is something swedish players tend to have a problem with lol. Btw im not taking away anything from the Czechs. They are always playing good vs us

I didn't think you were but Sweden wins most the encounters. They are better than us for over a decade or more.
