WJC: 4th Annual WJC Pool - Full - Ongoing Updates

I'm running a hockey pool for the world juniors on here for the 4th consecutive year. I've invited back all the returning players from my pool last year, and 5 of them have accepted the invitation. That means we have room for 4 more. After that if someone wants to sign up, they can sign up as an alternate, and would take over for any member who is being tardy in the draft on multiple occasions. They were all fine last year so this is probably and unlikely scenario but it's the best I can offer.

As was the case last year, your team will consist of 6 forwards, 3 defensemen, and a goalie. Points are awarded for goals, assists, wins and shutouts only. Assists, or in an odd scenario goals by a goalie will count towards your score. You get 1 point per goal, 1 per assist, 2 per win, and 1 additional point for a shutout. That makes 3 point total if your goalie gets a shutout.

The draft will commence soon and could be as early as tonight. I will do a random draft of the 10 participants for the order, and the draft will proceed in a snake fashion, 1st pick in the 1st round, gets last pick in the 2nd round, 1st pick in the 3rd round, and so on. You will have 12 hours to make a pick. This clock will countdown around the clock. If you miss your pick you may be skipped. I'll be lenient on skipping picks in the first couple rounds because those are important, however if you take way too long I may be forced to do so, or autopick you a player. If your pick gets skipped, you may enter the thread and make a pick at any time afterwards regardless of how many picks have passed, but you should want to do so immediately because other posters are on the clock and may pick someone you want. For the purpose of keeping the draft going at a good pace, please make your pick if you know it's your pick and have time to do so. Don't wait around for hours thinking about it because you can.

If you know you won't be online for a while please PM me and list of who you'd like to select when your next pick comes up. For instance if there are 4 picks before you, you can PM me a list of 5 players, the highest guy I the list I will pick for you when your pick comes up. I will not look at your PM until it is your pick so as to not influence my pick, but please put something in the PM title making me aware that it is a list of players for potential pick so I won't look at it. If you're on the end of the snake and want me to use your list to make multiple picks please say so. I won't use your list for multiple picks unless you say so because maybe you wanted 1 forward and a defenceman but the top 2 guys on your list is a forward or something.

Once you make your pick, please PM the next GM to inform them it's their turn to pick. Some posters get email notification of a new PM so they can come on HF quickly and pick. Some who are on HF will notice they have anew PM and come to their forum to pick.

If you pick someone who hurts themselves in camp. Doesn't get released to participate in the world juniors or doesn't get named to the team you can only replace these guys after the entire draft is complete. There will be a replacement draft at the end of the draft with picks in order which they were made in the draft. You can only replace players which you can show they won't be participating. You can't say, that was a crappy pick, I want to switch it, and get a replacement draft pick. You pick someone who's playing, you're stuck with them.

I'm good to start whenever. Although the rosters have all been put out so I see no reason why we shouldn't start now.

the camp rosters are all out though I'd a tad afraid that if we start now by the time we get into the later picks the tournament rosters won't be set and there will be picks that get cut.

That happens every year and there's nothing you can do about it unless you do a 1 day draft after all the rosters have been picked which is not reasonable.

The draft shouldn't take 18 days however(or even say 15 to get it done a couple days before Christmas) so I don't mind waiting if anyone wants to but if everyone is good we can start, doesn't really bother me either way, we should have a good, 4 or 5 rounds of picks that are pretty much certain to make their teams anyway

Disclaimer I am not suggesting the Leafs draft choice is a better player than this years probable 1st overall, it's a short tournament, anything can happen....decisions, decisions.

last years thread was a mess with people taking too lonbg, replacement players, replacement picks and arguing so I'd rather not link that one, I can't imagine one going as unsmooth as that one went
