Why would the Mammoth trade Frondell / Hagens / Martone / Desnoyers for Horvat? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, unless Utah is very underwhelmed with all of those prospects. Cooley Hayton McBain at C just for now until Frondell / Hagens / Desnoyers is ready is fine. There's no rush to be a cup contender THIS season, is there? To the point where you trade a top forward prospect for a 30 year old 2C?

I don't think any of them are ready for 2C work in the next 3 years, possibly ever.

It's not my desired use for 4, but if I'm trading it to the isles that would be my preference.

There are other things I'd prefer do to get a real 2C now (love Haytes but he's a 2Cb at best). If I did those I'd take Hagens to replace Keller 6 years from now.

IDK how Islanders fans feel about it, but Utah would (I think?) want to get Anders Lee 50% retained (1 year, $3.5m cap and $3.5m retained) and give up Matias Maccelli (1 year $3.43m cap and then RFA). Utah needs more LW to compliment Keller and Crouse.

To me, sold. It also does us the solid of making the team absolutely abysmal next year and hopefully getting another top 5 pick.

First Hagens would have to be there at 4. Also I’d personally have a good forward prospect than Crouse so no unless you want one of the forward cap dumps in return with the 1st.
