Speculating that Hagens will still be there @ 4th:
4th OA, Skahan (BC teammate), Beaudoin, Lavoie
1st OA -> Misa
Enough?
Is this the kinda overkill needed?
Not even close to enough, never mind overkill.Speculating that Hagens will still be there @ 4th:

4 assets that all likely to make it to the NHL? 2 prospects that are comparable to typical late 1st rounders and a defensive d'man! Not even close to enough, never mind overkill.
First off, in what world are Beaudoin, Skahan, and Lavoie all "likely to make it to the NHL"? I've seen a lot of Skahan and he's a #7D for a couple years if he's lucky. Beaudoin is maybe a 4C if everything works out. And the fact that I had to look up who "Lavoie" was means he definitely isn't "likely" to make the NHL.4 assets that all likely to make it to the NHL? 2 prospects that are comparable to typical late 1st rounders and a defensive d'man!
Looking like NYI is likely to draft Schaefer anyways, maybe a deal with SJ instead even if the optics of announcing the new name along with the 1st pick would be priceless.
Lavoie, a 6'4" 223lbs RHD, selected 1st overall pick in the Q, completed 15 Gs and 40As for Cape Breton this past season. His trajectory is as a 2nd pairing RHD. Beaudoin is a defensive forward that has shown some offense this past season. He projects as an elite shut down defensive center. You be lucky to find comparable players in the bottom half of the 1st round.First off, in what world are Beaudoin, Skahan, and Lavoie all "likely to make it to the NHL"? Second off, why are the Isles trading down from 1st to 4th without even a single asset worth a 1st round pick in the package? Value is way off even if your evaluation of those prospects was correct.
Back to the drawing board, buddy.
Pimp up your fringe prospects all you want, doesn't change that the Isles would laugh this proposal out of the room.Lavoie, a 6'4" 223lbs RHD, selected 1st overall pick in the Q, completed 15 Gs and 40As for Cape Breton this past season. Terrible idea for Utah to do that.Speculating that Hagens will still be there @ 4th:

This isn’t even worth it for the Islanders to move down. This is basically an even swap of forwards and a prospect I could care less for. You had the right idea with Engvall being sent out though.1st overall
JEAN-GABRIEL PAGEAU
PIERRE ENGVALL
for
4th overall
LAWSON CROUSE
JAMIE McBAIN
Will Shakan
McBain is a young-ish great middle 6 center / wing that the Mammoth (mostly) have no interest in trading. Pageau is a competent middle 6 C on a one year deal. It's not an even swap. This isn’t even worth it for the Islanders to move down. This is basically an even swap of forwards and a prospect I could care less for. Still not interested in downgrading to package Engvall to the deal to get Lawson Crouse and Jack McBain. Much rather take a quality prospect or pick up a higher end forward. Neither of those 2 guys really move the needle to make the Islanders realistically deeper.McBain is a young-ish great middle 6 center / wing that the Mammoth (mostly) have no interest in trading. Crouse and Engvall being supposedly anywhere close to even isn't even worth commenting on.
Trouble is, there's no guarantee any of those 3 will be available at 4. 2 are rather certain nit to be thereThe price wouldn't be worth it considering what a wash the top guys in this draft are IMO
The difference between Misa, Schaefer, and Hagens is not another blue chip prospect
Lol two prospects who couldn't even hit PPG in their draft plus 1 year are gonna be nhlers lol get out of here.4 assets that all likely to make it to the NHL? 2 prospects that are comparable to typical late 1st rounders and a defensive d'man!

Perhaps, but if we can believe the talk. NY might be willing to trade down and draft the local kid in Hagens.Apologies for the poor wording, but I moreso meant the top 5 in general. The difference between Frondell and the guys mentioned above isn't an Iginla or a Simashev to me.
Trading an assortment of picks to move up a spot to grab your guy if hes available? Sure. I just don't think it's worth giving away a piece that would "hurt" to get them, there's literally a handful of kids with the upside to be the best player of this draft.
There's reason to think Hagens will drop to 5 given the makeup of Chicago and Utah. Hagens duplicates strengths for Chicago and Utah (especially Utah). Otoh Nashville, Flyers, Boston could really really use Hagens.Trouble is, there's no guarantee any of those 3 will be available at 4. 2 are rather certain nit to be there
The Islanders will get killed by the local media if they trade down from the 1st overall and not end up with Hagens. The only real guarantee, is if they don't trade past 3There's reason to think Hagens will drop to 5 given the makeup of Chicago and Utah. Iginla was my original thinking but I doubt Utah does that.More like Simashev or Iginla plus the 4.
