Apart from the nice execution the PP goal, this has all of the indicia of yet another Ducks loss. Average performance in goal, horrendous defense with multiple turnovers resulting directly in goals, no offensive synergy and almost no sustained pressure. And a showing of zero balls. Your teammate caught flying knee and they can't even be bothered to lay a finger on the guy even when the game is clearly out of hand.

I'm getting to the point that I don't even want to watch this team anymore until I get the news that Cronin is out. It's just gonna be more of the same shit and aggravating disappointment that our youth core is in incompetent hands.

I don't really watch Vegas anymore because the last round of cap shenanigans was super distasteful to me, so all I've really had to care about hockey wise was my optimistic hope that this youth core would be developing towards their potential. As a whole, that's not happening. All I'm left with is a team that is league worst defensively and offensively.

I think I might either take a break from hockey until Cronin is gone or just randomly watch other teams.

this organization doesn't know how to teach defense and actively discourages offense. literally the only thing this org can do is develop goalies that can cover for the lack of off/def development.

Teaching OFD's how to play defense at the NHL level will take years. LaCombe and Helleson look good playing defense b/c that was their forte in college for several years. LaCombe was an OFD in high school and spent four seasons in college learning to play defense. Minty, Zell, and Luneau are known for their high scoring offense in the CHL to earn defensive player of the year, which is like winning the Norris such that offensive defensemen are acknowledge for their high end productions.

I'm not down on our CHL OFD's and expect these growing pains for a couple more years. Maybe get a new PK coach that can help improve defensive play. We actually had a good defensive assistant coach, but he got cancer in Stothers. He beat cancer, but he was promoted to a less stressful role as a special advisor.

But if we want a more defensive developing youth D to show up sooner, then hope we win the lottery to select two-way LD Schaefer.

Well the hockey gods so far have me two out of my 3 wishes. More than one goal and Zegras didn’t get hurt (so far so good). But my 3rd wish of them hammering Reinhardt didn’t happen and he scored the Panthers first goal… maybe things would have turned out differently… oh well… game over.

These problems are a lot more of a game prep/systems/in game coaching problem than the D we're picking in drafts so i don't really know why that's such a heavy focus of this response, but sure, getting Schaefer would be great.

i never expect any shot from the point to ever be a dangerous shot. either it's always blocked or there's no in front screening the goalie so the goalie just gets an easy save.

I keep tuning on cause that optimism isn't dead yet and I really care about these players and want to see them thrive but these games are all the more disappointing because they're not and Verbeek doesn't seem to give a shit. That road trip would be enough to get a coach fired on most other teams. No injuries as an excuse. Just dogshit play from dogshit game prep.
