I think the thing that shocks me the most is how damn good/confident Maatta looks with Riikola and how f***ing BRUTAL he looks with Oleksiak. It's like i'm watching 2 different players.

The team was humming along when the pairings were Dumo/Letang, Pettersson/Johnson, Maatta/Riikola. Why they re-inserted Oleksiak is a mystery to me.

Playing Maatta Oleksiak gives you two pairings that need sheltering.

You'd be surprised at how one bad pairing can affect a team. Not just on the ice during play; there are mental aspects to it too on the bench.

I'm taking deep breaths and just praying I see he was traded for literally anything. It's beyond dumb that Riikola hasn't stayed in.

It just made no sense. When do see teams change a winning lineup to insert someone who isn't one of the stars? It's not like Letang was coming back from injury during a winning streak. It's literally the Pens' #6 who was out, and they disrupted a winning formula to make room for him.
