This is the most clear I’ve seen Dubas about what he’s doing. I must have missed since he likes to talk so much.

It’s also an awful plan. If Sid and Geno were in their early 30s it would make sense but by the time any picks start producing they’ll be out of the league.

Unless he thinks that some combination of McG, Koivunen, Pono, and Broz are going to save a bunch of pushing 40 superstars.

All the teams listed still drafted some high picks. Rangers got a number 1 overall and the kings a number 5 and number 2 overall.

I think Dubas 100% expects to bottom out for a couple top picks in 2 years. I think in his mind these guys will end up being supporting cast for them. Similar to the pens having players like Orpik. Armstrong, Talbot and whitney when they draft Geno, Sid and Staal.

I am not saying its a great plan but hes trying to collect young guys who will be farther along when they draft the next generational talent :)

Pretty fair way of looking at it. Although I wouldn't rule out a very bad 25-26. And even if you don't draft such a player, you can accrue a lot of very good pieces if you draft and develop well.

It's awful, how so? Tell me, what has this core won in the last six plus years when they constantly traded 1st rounders and perpetually mortgaged the future, yet didn't even win a playoff round? That is what is awful. THIS CORE is done winning! ACCEPT IT!
Yo, Rocky told me time is undefeated. I get their days of carrying this roster to any thing other than mediocrity are over.

I’m saying unless Geno gets on some OV Russian gear and turns into a freak it’s too late for a quick turnaround.
