It's not really surprising since we seem to have gone out of our way to ice the weakest shooting defensemen in hockey. Particularly with Letang/Petry out, can any of our defensemen even hit 50 mph on the radar gun?

1-They didn't lose the opening faceoff and have to retrieve the puck from their own zone
2-Didn't struggle like hell at zone entries
3-Didn't pass the puck slowly around the perimeter to kill off 30 seconds of the PP for the PK

Watching the Pens is like watching a really, really badly written sitcom. It's kind of pathetic to watch, but you hate watch anyways because complaining about how bad it is is more entertaining than the actual show.
