But they just came off and awesome stretch of hockey and seemed to all be getting in rhythm. That's what's confusing to me because I agree with you, but usually it's all or nothing.

It doesn't take Terry being with the team to drop the gloves. It doesn't take loving Cronin to have some pride and stick up for your teammates.

I'm hoping this is just a weird slump and they will bounce back, but what an absolutely horrid 120min of hockey

The problem is that if he’s the hardass we hear he is, screaming at your team to give a shit gets old very quickly and starts to have the opposite effect.
 
I’m just not sure what’s going to be different come October. I’m not convinced Cronin doesn’t return next year. Right now Verbeek can look at the standings and say we’ve improved from last year.

This will be a similar roster too except well maybe have a minor forward acquisition and Sennecke might get a look

Ya you kinda have to earn the ability to be like a Torts.... Cronin hasnt earned shit at the nhl lvl.


I dont even dislike cronin... he just seems like 1 of those memes when you lie on your job application and get the job.

Eh i disagree with this.

I think Cronin will for sure be gone.

And i think PV will for sure grab a top 6 forward... hes made attempts at doing so already.

New coach should/could ignite some of the young guys + another year in the league.

The samuelis even would step in, and say Cronin has to go. They have a franchise branding to worry about.

Yeah expectations are generally quite low for him this year on here. I think there’s only a couple of us willing to say something and we’re always generating a ton of pushback lol.

I think he’s been disappointing and it’s wrong to blame it all on the coach and/or coaching decisions (line mates/system). It absolves him of responsibility when 80% of his performance is determined by him. And that goes for every single player that’s ever played.

Torts has players who are really good over there, they play hard for him. Yes. If he calls timeout and his team is down 6-0 and told to have some pride. His guys, even a couple isn’t skilled guys may drop the gloves for him.

I think he COULD be fired and is generally a bad coach at this point.

But the board has now convinced themselves that Verbeek thinks we’re underperforming expectations and therefore Cronin WILL be fired

Honestly, it feels like wishful thinking. We have no evidence unfortunately that Verbeek is unhappy with what’s occurring.

He could be fired or he could be hung onto for a lot longer than people want to even think about IMO. We will see

People should also keep in mind that just saying he could be having a better year (like Cutter) isn’t giving up on him or calling it a bad pick or something.

Mainly my concern is that our young forwards are all flat or regressing. It’s not just the big names, Lundy’s taken a step back too IMO. It matters not just for now but for kids who are hitting that part of the development curve (like Colangelo) and risk running headlong into the Cronin developmental meatgrinder.

Sure, but i think regardless the end of this season is the end of cronin at the latest.

He got booed modestly for maybe 10 games . . . and then it was done.

He was booed pretty much until he left Edmonton. The first year, he was booed so loudly he got shaken and just lost the puck in his own zone.

This was the first game their fans got to see him. The online stuff is pathological, but this was 100% normal for an in-arena experience IMO.
