Near the bottom of the league in goals against...... for a team that stresses defense at the expense of offense.

Per my eye they're actually quite good defensively.

And it doesn't matter. You win by scoring. If you can't score defense has no purpose. What's worse, last night they focused on stemming the bleeding instead of scoring. They weren't even trying to score. Total loser approach and culture.

It's like they watched a lot of Bernard Hopkins fights and said "let's try that for hockey" but forgot they also have to punch back. Nothing but hugging and holding and minimizing action.

They were trying to score, they just misconnected a lot.
Foerster missed the deflection that Bourque made.
And so on, a lot of good cross ice passing but they couldn't get the puck on net, or take advantage of rebounds when they did.

They pay the other team too.

Goals against are a low event in hockey. They generally defend well but suffer from catastrophic breakdowns and many teams have a better skill level to take advantage of that then they do. Add in goaltending that can't save the bacon and you have a team that gives up a lot of goals.

anyone know if Drysdale can get sent to LHV ?

IMHO he needs serious time to get his game "together".....like the rest of this season

he shows no confidence at all in his play .....wonder which scout approved of his trade .

Maybe a different type of coach is needed...Flyers are stuck with Torts for at least this season.

If they had a lot of breakdowns, it would show up in HDCA.
They're 13th, Caps are 20th in HDCA/60.
However, 28th in HDGA/60. So yeah, it's the goalies.

He'd have to pass through waivers, which won't happen.

They've said it's going to take time, he has good games and bad games, when he first got there, he had bad games and worse games. So they're making progress. :naughty:

So they were playing not to lose 7 or 8 to 1. Sounds about right. Flyers hockey.

You have a reading comprehension issue. I didn't state that they had a lot of breakdowns.

They ran one forechecker with the wings held back. That is not trying to score, that's trying to prevent being scored on while you're already trailing.
