Watching Drysdale infuriates me so much....such a disappointment he's pathetic in how own end...whoever made or recommended that trade plus the pick of Jet should be let go.... Ivan looked ok past 2 games but how does a 6 ft 6 goalie that's 200 lbs give up half the net on that Tavaras goal ...ridiculous....TK, Mich & Risto played great today.... Tippet also gives us all heart burn....why can't this kid shoot with such a hard shot its mind boggling.... wtf is Torts doing to this PP it was decent and has become pathetic.... Foerster was amazing in Junior and AHL at scoring off the one timers on the PP.... Put him in that role and have a dman with a shot playing the point (Andrae anyone).... Frustrating loss and season..... this team with a top line center and a goalie like Hart would be a top 8 team in the league...Sad really
Ristolainen didn't play great. He was responsible or partly responsible for two goals against in the game. He stood there flat footed on the Matthews goal and watched as a spectator. All he had to do was take one stride and he could've broken up the play. He has been bleeding goals against and has made numerous coverage mistakes in the last few weeks.

No this time I don't think they did. ESPN conned you out of seeing the better of the two games overall.

If anything this time it looked like the Leafs were on cruise control and not fully going for it
Well shot attempts in the 3rd period were 17-11 Leafs and scoring chances were 9-6 Leafs.

Think about all the fans that wanted Zeev all of them (as well as the experts) .... but no were smarter then everyone will pick the kid that has absolutely no offensive skills instead but he's fast and in really good shape lol..... Oh and lets not forget Cole Caufield or Matt Boldy... who needs that type of talent (that every expert could see) lets go for the defenseman that isn't big and can't shoot (I like York way more than Drysdale but its still a horrible decision).... Perrault and even Ritchie were no brainers..... absolutely insane how inept our management has been the past 15 yrs.....oh and lets hire an amazing hard ass coach so we continue to finish as the 17-20th best team in the NHL when we need to finish bottom 5 and rebuild... how any GM can watch Tor and Edm play and think tanking when your not a playoff team isn't smart should be fired.....
I'm just glad they didnt waste a pick on someone like Zeev Buium after already having Jamie Drysdale on patrol

You just admitted you didn't watch the game and your commenting on who did and didn't play well!! Flyers were the better team and it wasn't even close... 2 posts ... break away botched ... 2 on 1 botched.... Tippet wide open net.... Woll had at least 10 more difficult saves to make versus Fedotov.... so your stats don't tell the tale at all.. plus we had 3 penalties against us to ZERO when we were outshooting them 10-1... absolutely ridiculous

It is disappointing how our team is playing but a positive it that we are getting close to being a top 5 pick this year in the draft and closer to having our coach fired....but it bums me out that Michkov has gone cold....he is really the only fun part of this season.

A competent team would be dumping Drysdale asap and take anything you could get.
What a horrible trade Briere made....I used to coach competitively and Drysdale is one of those kids you watch in practice and think the kid is unreal.... his skating , stick work look effortless.... then you watch the game and realize wtf is he doing... You need a Pronger or Chara level player to play with that kid and a coach thats going to accept he's going to be a train wreck in his own end for at least 2 more plus seasons

So, who actually watched the game? I thought so.

It was a great game, Flyers ran out of steam in the 3rd period, partially b/c Michkov and Laughton missed most of the period after their collision and some other players had to double shift.

What stands out is how much faster this team is compared to two years ago. They can skate with fast teams and try to go toe to toe with physical teams, though they're still undersized.

They're young, which means they're inconsistent and mistake prone. Foerster made some great plays but also drew a careless high sticking penalty. They tried plenty of cross ice passes, but they also got a lot of passes intercepted, including a few by Michkov. He's dealing with a learning curve, the windows are smaller and players quicker, and he has a bullseye on his back.

TK had a beautiful goal off a great play by Cates to win a battle along the boards then feed TK in front of the net.

Tippett missed an open net, but it was a bad angle, I've seen TK miss that shot more than once. It happens.

They need to upgrade a few spots, replace Couts at center and move him to wing, replace Hathaway. That 4th line of Farabee - Couts - Hathaway just don't work, and Poehling needs to move back to 4C and forecheck, he's just not skilled enough to play with Tippett and TK, though he was better tonight than the last few games.

Fedotov wasn't bad, none of the goals was a "softee," two tough shots from Tavares and Matthews and a deflection that he had little chance to stop. His rebound control was much better, as was his balance for the most part. A work in progress, but he has some potential.

One player that concerns me is Sanheim, he's not playing badly, but he's not nearly the player he was earlier in the season, fumbling the puck too much, losing focus in the D-zone. Hopefully it's just a mid-season funk.

This team has a long way to go, but the improvement is obvious.
Don't care about the record, this season (and next season) is about young players improving and learning to play together and play smarter.

If they weren’t relying on guys like Tippet to put in that glorious chance.

Or Drysdale to create something at the end.

If they had another viable threat other than TK or Michkov…

They can play as well as they want, talent comes through. They don’t have enough high end skill - and it shows itself far too often. Where are they getting it?
God knows it doesn't look like they can draft them unless the Michkov dream happens again....where every GM acts like a Flyer GM and doesn't take the no brainer pic because they "know" better lol

What improvement? You act like you're the only one who watched, and you're claiming improvement is obvious? You didn't even get the Cates play right.

I have a question. Is it good coaching to completely neglect offense aside from "north South is allowed, East West is not" until everyone routinely just shuffles in the same spot (probably waiting to get back on D) and watches a lone carrier skate in circles? There is zero offensive cycle or plan to this squad. Is that good?

You can tell who did not watch the game.

"TK had a beautiful goal off a great play by Cates to win a battle along the boards then feed TK in front of the net."

Nowhere near the boards. Putz

Gee, if TK is in front of the net, and Cates is 20' away to his side, isn't that near the boards?

And grow up, name calling is for children and "X".

Frustrating season for sure. As could be expected.

Still I don´t get how people demand a tanking strategy. From a player´s standpoint I am sure you´re playing to win most of the time. Playing strong will contribute to your personal value even in case you hate the place, org, coach or whatever. Why lose on purpose? The possible effect that high draft picks may have a couple of years in the future probably will not even effect you any more.

And what kind of guarantees do high draft picks bring with them? Our highest draft picks of the last 20 years were JvR, Couts, Morin, Provy, Nolan Patrick, Michkov and Gauthier. Evaluating them now leads to one (Couts) or possibly two (Michkov) winners with the rest between not completely living up to the potential and total bust. Meanwhile the higher first rounders that some people here want to avoid by tanking include the names of Giroux, Sanheim and Konecny (among others of the less valualble categories). Actually not a big difference.

Not sure if you're aware but there is this new technology out called the internet. Where you can watch the highlights and watch the video's of the goal. I guarantee that the stats tell the tale better than your eye can. Flyers had an edge in high quality chances but overall, a pretty evenly played game statistically. A defenseman cant have a great game when he is responsible for partly responsible for two goals against in a 3-2 game.
