What's the word around the Rangers ( media etc…) are they looking to shake things up, perhaps with a big trade? I been hearing the odd thing up here in Canada about them wanting to move Callahan, Del Zotto, Strallman and of course find someone to take Richards contract off their hands. They're too tight to the Salary Cap to do much unless they can move Richards is what we hear. Thoughts….?

Richards is not getting traded. As long as he stays healthy, he's getting compliance'd

Stralman is a solid bottom pairing Right side Dfenceman that is being played out of position on the 2nd pair and aquitting himself nicely.

Callahan is not going to be traded. He may not be re-signed, but he's not going to be traded. Sather is a dummy in that regards.

Del Zotto IS probably on his way out. And the more he plays like crap, the less we get one for one or the more we add to MDZ to get an aset that can help us.

Richards WONT get traded. (re-capture)

In an ideal world, Callahan WOULD get traded. (sans emotional ties)

Del Zotto SHOULD get traded unless the return is magic beans. (40pt D-men dont grow on trees)

Sorry, I wasn't aware they still had a Comp. buy-out, word on our TSN up here was that NYR had used both their allotted Comp. Buy-outs in past, so were stuck with Richards contract unless they can find a willing trade partner with avail. Cap space ( only about 5 teams in league qualify ). Also word was NYR management are sour on both Callahan & MDZ, looking to move them also to free up some Cap space.

I am here in Fla, came down yesterday! Bought seats in Club RED for the game, $120 each, supposed to come with all the food and drinks! Just off center ice, row 15. Look for us, Wife and 2 teenagers, all wearing Rangers Blue!

Woooo winnable game \o/ LGR!

11pm start in Norway.. guess I'm watching hockey for new years :p

I'm definitely going to watch Rangers hockey for New Years, best way to start a new year! :handclap::):handclap:

(btw, not being sarcastic. earlier today I thought it was ages, i.e several days, until our next game:-)

All due respect, but if the "word" you are hearing thought that the Rangers had already used both compliance buyouts, then why would you give any thought to the rest of what they said? Not only do they not have sources, but they aren't even paying attention.

The only way the Rangers will be stuck with Richards is if he's injured in the off-season when the time comes to buy him out.

Neither the Rangers management, not the fans are "sour" on Callahan. There is, however, a sense that he is starting to physically break down due to his style of play, and will want more money/term than a player at the beginning of a regression will be worth. Many Rangers fans (myself included) think it is best to move him for value, since we don't think he will be worth the contract some team (ie- Buffalo) will throw at him in the offseason.

Michael Del Zotto is a 23 year old PMD, with multiple 30+ point games on his resume (including a 40+ point season where he received a few Norris votes). Rangers management is looking to move him because he doesn't seem to do as well in AV's man to man defense as he did in Torts' zone, and because they (think--I disagree) that we are stacked down the left side of the D with McD-Staal-Moore. For the Rangers brass, that makes him available to trade to fill other holes. They certainly aren't going to move him (a relatively inexpensive player who is still cost controlled on his next contract) just to free up his salary.

Florida's coaches should be fired if they sit both Gomez and Mottau. They basically sat the only two players who were guaranteed to score a goal in this game (unless they have any rookies in the lineup who have yet to score their first NHL goal).

Lundqvist on that 8 game streak of letting in 3 goals or more. If this $8.5M goalie could let in 2 or less goals with no softies involved for once, that'd be great.

According to multiple Twitter accounts... Falk and MDZ are healthy scratches. Staal - Allen a pairing, and Stralman is ready to go too.

Good. This is probably the best their D has looked (on paper at least) all season. Provided staal and stralman are good

Hey there Michael, I'm going to go head and ask you to sit up in the press box tonight.... mmmm kay? And uh, what about those TPS reports I asked for?

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping for the best, but Strals had been struggling for a couple of weeks before his injury (he was great before that stretch, though), and Staal has been pretty bad all year.

Even with a concussion and one eye staal is better than both of those clowns:laugh:

Sadly, no, he hasn't been (and again, this is coming from someone who thought that Staal was better than McD before this season started). Staal has been our worst d-man for a significant portion of the season. Also, either way, it should be Moore up in the press box. I have no idea what AV sees in him that he keeps getting chance after chance. He makes more and worse mistakes than MDZ, and he doesn't have MDZ's track record to indicate that he can be anything other than what he is now. If it were possible, I'd say the best place for John Moore right now is Hartford. He needs top pair minutes somewhere, because he can't handle bottom pair NHL minutes--he's a detriment to the team--but being in the press box doesn't help him at all.

hopefully the real staal is back and stralman can continue being quietly sound.

McD-G
Staal-Allen
Moore-Stralsy

so it should look something like that right?

Thomas starting.
