Can’t call instigator on that Cuylle dropped his gloves first.
They should look at the rule. Too much of this nonsense. They want to speed up the game but don’t discourage this kind of thing.
But also agree Cuylle could have done a better job by letting the Vegas guy drop em first.
That said, I think Cuylle is kind of an “old school” “hockey code” kind of guy who will oblige a guy asking for a fight rather than play it for the power play.

I don't disagree. It's the calling for the types of player who aren't around anymore that's pointless. As with the slapshot thing. Saying there are no Prongers doesn't equal me saying we should play soft. Or not have assholes. We all enjoyed Trouba wrecking people but he quickly became less valuable for various reasons.
Anyway, it wasn't your comment that started this.

Yeah I didn't look at it that way. I was just chipping in with FWIW commentary.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think the rule is predicated on whose gloves come off first. Cuylle would not have fought if Hague didn’t challenge him after a clean hit - which is the literal definition of “instigation.” Just because the other player was willing to oblige (because of the archaic “code” where if he doesn’t, he gets called every emasculation word they can find on top of being run at for the rest of the game to show “toughness”), doesn’t make it less instigating on Hague’s part.

I heard it! I want to know all the details too!

I was thinking an unruly fan.
If Boyle told me to GTFO

If you drop first you're not getting an instigator on the other guy. Cuylee expected a challenge and was dropping them as soon as he turned. You're simple not getting a call on that.

I cant believe I missed this game. I just figured they wouldnt play 2 games in a row. I said to my son, the Rangers played this weekend, their new guy JT Miller got 2 goals but they still lost to the Bruins. My son said ok but they just won against the Golden Knights. They played last night. Panic struck me as I realized I missed a game. We immediately watched the highligyts together. Zibs, Bread, K Miller and Laf omg these guys got goals and I missed it. Fox w the great assist too. Quick with win #400! Sounds like it was an awesome game. I saw JT was making good plays and I felt so good for Zibs watching him charging the net and getting his goal and bread hit one top bins.

Do you think Boyle was telling Giannone to GTFO or someone else? Maybe a fan who was nearby?
If you don't "fill" or "feel" "then get the f*** outta here". Is what I think I hear. Maybe he said "film"? which would make the most sense. But it doesn't sound like it.

Yeah i couldn't make out what he said.

Right, because the players know the refs never enforce that rule. So it’s either be jumped or be ready. He expected the challenge because the players know there is absolutely no deterrent to doing what Hague did, which is textbook instigation. But since it’s not called, this is the result. My argument isn’t that the refs did something they normally don’t. My argument is the league should actually enforce the damn rule if they are going to leave it on the books.

I got some funny news that my chef buddy shared about the VGK trip to NY. My friend's restaurant catered the Golden Knights meal at UBS where they practiced yesterday before the game at MSG. Apparently they are now blaming the loss against NYR for burgers that were cooked "too rare" and made some player sick. My chef buddy is pissed and calling BS, he doesn't know much about hockey but he is going to be catering more NHL visiting teams for the rest of the season. I asked my buddy to find out which player if he could. He said he couldn't, it was probably spleen-less bitch ass Mark Stone I told him.
