Before yesterday's 3 point game, he had 3 points total in his previous 9 games. He was also dogshit through most of the first two periods yesterday. It would be awesome if he can build on last night's 3rd period, as it would good for the team on the ice & also a huge boost for his trade value over the summer.

However, as I mentioned in the Roster thread last week, moving forward I think we should all just accept he's going to be a bit of an enigma, & it's going to be a roller coaster of some good play mixed in with stretches of games where he looks totally lost.
Somehow Mika has outdone himself this year. After last years 1.41 p/60 at 5v5 he’s dropped to 1.22 this year. Thats lower than Adam Clendening, Paul Carey and Enver Lisin as NYR. Also Julien Gauthier

Maybe so but hockey is still a contact sport come playoff time. Florida showed that vs us. Tampa showed that vs us. Besides Pronger was still an all star caliper player around 15 years ago not 30 years ago. :)

It is 2025 now. If we throw a puck in to a corner and its one of our no contact wallflowers and Pronger going in to get it who is coming out with it? My money is on Pronger.....even at 50 years old lol :D

Kreider does not have that mean streak/physical bit in him, even when healthy, we should not expect it. That was coached out of him by AV and the refs back when he was young and now he's old and isn't going to be trying to overpower people all game long.

I fear you are right about CK being soft nowadays. Although last season he flashed some balls when standing up to Tkachuk. That was nice to see :)

The thing is though you look at last year's Panthers, the year before's Golden Knights, the Lightning Cup teams and pretty much most people would agree (or at least I think they would) what a bunch of assholes those teams were to play against. I don't think that's an accident that those winning teams were also mean teams to play against.

In that respect I think it would be best if that side of Miller's game became more infectious amongst our better players. We have some of that with Cuylle, Carrick and Rempe. It's not like the Ranger are a super soft team.....it's just that at least some of our top end players wilt when the going gets tough.

They're super soft in all the wrong, i.e., critical places.

If JT can get Cuylle playing like that every night, and some of our young guys like Laf and K'Andre to play with some added emotion, his impact on the team will be enormous. Even beyond his production. We needed a top C and leader who is not afraid to go to the blue paint and get in the other team's top players face. JT has been living in the slot and opposing goalie's crease in the 2 games since he got here.

Looked nothing like Laf's goal, lol. But also looked nothing like any of the few goals he scored with the Rangers.
Laf scored from the right circle, and Kakko scored from the left circle. Mirror image!

I'm all for fan engagement. But does this person really expect them to stand in the snow, late at night after going 100%(hopefully) physically for 3 hours?
More evidence that Will Borgen is great.

Sam Bennett by the way is a potential unrestricted free agent this summer. Now that guy is a grade A asshole to play against. My guess is Florida will try to sign him.....though they might look to shore up their D too. If he's available though he would be a very good pickup. Just saying.

Perfect fit, imperfect age. Florida got his best years and rangers would be paying him for his decline like Goodrow. Can we find the next Bennett? Trent Frederic has shown flashes, and would come much cheaper.

Very tempting but not sure about getting into another Goodrow kind of situation. "Get him for his Cup pedigree and his grit" everyone says and he gets locked in multiple years starting at age 29. I know he's way more skilled than Goodrow, but playing in Florida has elevated his stats, and as a longtime fan of this organization, he'll come here to take it easy.

League doesn't protect it's players well enough so if you're not ready to immediately throw down after a legal hit then the other team will be cheapshotting you all game (and future games) trying to hurt you
Was not saying he should have skated away. Just told him, “Clean hit, just take the instigator or extra roughing and I’ll go.”

I don't disagree. It's the calling for the types of player who aren't around anymore that's pointless. As with the slapshot thing. Saying there are no Prongers doesn't equal me saying we should play soft. Or not have assholes. We all enjoyed Trouba wrecking people but he quickly became less valuable for various reasons.
Anyway, it wasn't your comment that started this.
