...hard to believe that said trade literally fell into Bargain Bin's lap and he still supposedly needed some coaxing to make it happen...Thank Ares we didn't end up with Glass...

We don't know how it would go with Glass as a Hab. He's had some injury issues. Maybe he wouldn't have them if he was with Montreal because his fate would be different.

But Glass and Suzuki were having the same seasons in the WHL and OHL, respectively. Both regular season and playoffs were nearly identical.

If you go see their numbers in 2017-18, which was the season before the trade happened, you'll see that they had identical seasons.

...well documented...playing dumb about the events doesn't mean they didn't happen...

Specify. Support your argument, captain hindsight. Remember that the trade was made in 2018, not 2022.

Carey Price did that, not Marc Bergevin

It's both. Bergevin was a shit GM but give credit where credit is due. It was his team. Folks are weird.

...getting rid of Ghostioretty was a big win for the Habs...getting much more than we ever thought possible out of Tatar and now Suzuki is just gravy...

Pacioretty was always a shooter, not a play driver.

Get rid of Radulov and replace him with Drouin as his center, or washed up Plekanec, or Danault with a grinder on the opposite wing, and Pacioretty is not going to produce.

I still think Pacioretty is good at what he does, including in the playoffs, as he proved in Vegas.

...and everyone who's been here on this Board for over a couple months have seen us go over and over and over this...you know what happened, we all do; it's been rehashed on here almost as much as the Subban/Weber deal...Bargain Bin wanted Glass, McPhee wouldn't do it and offered Suzuki (and Tatar as a Cap dump to clear some space for Ghostioretty)...Timmins was supposedly instrumental in convincing Bargain to take the deal...and we all see how it worked out...Bargain Bin had this literally fall into his muscled-up lap and still needed convincing to take it...he was a pathetic GM...

So Bergevin is an idiot for conferring with his right-hand man over two highly rated prospects in a trade involving his captain and best offensive winger? In a trade where the right decision was still made?

Do you hear yourself go?

...do you hear yourself again try and make this deal sound like a shrewd business deal when the reality is that it literally fell into his lap and he still needed to be convinced to take it??...we've done this dance before, amigo, and the song remains the same...it was NOT a Bargain Bin success story, it was a McPhee fail that Bargain still needed to be swayed into taking...the end...

Has it been 4 years already? Someone tell TSN690, they’re still running a Pacioretty testimonial ad for the builder of his home, that he must have gotten rid of after he was traded.

Odd to keep hearing his sleepy voice pimping Presti Construction.

I think most habs fans still like and respect what Tatar brought to the team to this day even if it ended a little sour
Tatar was an eminently likeable guy (and that meme glorifying him was epic, I have several versions).

However, we now have higher upside Slovaks on the roster.

:m-dance:

I don't even think it was particularly shrewd. I think you're being ridiculous because the story behind a great trade isn't our GM bullying another one. It's a general problem with fans. They think a trade can only be great if someone was bent over for it.

Tomar Tatar was freaking awesome. He was our best forward from the moment we acquired him until Covid in 2020.

People can criticize him during the playoffs all they want but the whole team sucked when we were down 3-1 against Toronto.

I always felt he deserved a chance to redeem himself. He wasn't the only player that was playing bad until the comeback.

Really weird how all this went down. I honestly feel him not getting a contract while Gallagher got 6,5m heading into the 2020-2021 season played with his head.
