Now Bettman and the rest of the NHL, promote the shit out of these guys and don't blow this momentum. McDavid, Tkachuk x2, MacKinnon etc. should be plastered EVERYWHERE for the foreseeable future.
Same with Slavin. The dude just had one of the best defensive performances over the entire tournament and had everyone talking.

Of course by the end of the week we'll be back to talking about why Fox deserves the Norris because he scores goals and how Slavin doesn't

Made up fake participation trophy tournament belongs to Canada.

Stanley Cup belongs to United States.

v This you? :sarcasm:

They want us to beat their ass again. They’re into that sort of thing.

I do find it funny that, regardless of who won, that nation would treat it as a huge deal while the losing nation would treat it as something that doesn’t matter. I mean, clearly, it mattered a great deal to the players on both sides.

Adam Fox blows, man.

I feel like Fox was on the ice for at least 2/3 of the goals lol.

At least now we don’t have to watch Rags fans gaslight us into thinking that Lindgren is the reason why Fox has fallen off. Come to find out he sucks with good players too.

He was atrocious all tournament. His play on the Bennett goal was shit I’d expect out of MAB or something.

The Hanifin Fox pair was atrocious. With the flow of the game knew it was over when they got stuck out there off that icing

Man, Fox really had a brutal game and a rough tournament. He was out of position so often that I wonder if he thought he was a forward.

And Hanifin is basically who we thought he was. Good, not great. Decent plug and play player but you don't want him on the ice in critical situations.

Truth be told, outside of Slavin I wasn't really that impressed with anyone defensively last night. Just because the defender can score doesn't mean they are a good defender, and that was exposed when we couldn't throw Slavin (or McAvoy, when he was able to play) out there.

My unsolicited thoughts about the tourney:

1. Sorry, but I just didn’t feel like cheering for national pride in this exhibition tournament that ultimately means nothing. I’ll cheer for USA in the Olympics. I cheered for the Canes players to do well.
2. Thought the Miracle on Ice stuff was cheesy and unwarranted/incomparable.
3. Glad Slavo got his flowers. I really don’t think he’s been that “underrated” in recent years within hockey circles, but nice to see him get the love. He really did play unbelievable - 0 goals against in two games against Canada.
4. Love Jarvis, but he seemed to be playing nervous to me. Hopefully it was a good learning experience and he can rep his country for years to come.
5. Can’t stand the Tkachuck bros, even when playing for the home team. Hopefully Matt’s injury nags him for months. Brady is an extremely effective power forward but is a man child and not captain material IMO. I’m sure I’d love him on the Canes.
6. Glad Aho and Rantanen were eliminated early so they can rest up. We’ll need them.
7. I used to hate Marchand but dammit I think I like him now. Between his Jarvis comments and accountability shown with the media this year he seems like a good leader.
8. That was really fun to watch.

Faber had a couple hiccups but mostly impressed the hell out of me defensively. Helps being paired with a god obviously but he had some nice plays of his own last night too.

Slavin very likely holds values which with I disagree, but if there’s anyone who would have a problem with some asshole selling bibles with their name on it and making golden idols of himself and getting off on other people worshipping that I imagine it’s slavin

Not to mention, with an adopted African American child, I can't imagine the push to demonize DEI is something he'd get behind.

I've been attempting an injury transplant, that way we can have Theodore back.

Reactions: geehaad
Love them or hate them, if you didn't garner some respect for the Tkachuk brothers (aka bash brothers) in this tournament I strongly disagree with this perspective. Those 2 were the heart and soul of the USA team, and embodied what makes the NHL standout against so many other professional sports leagues.

Brady almost single handedly put the team on his back last night while dealing with an illness and tbh I didn't really see a drop off in his game. If Matt hadn't been injured, I think it's very possible USA comes away with a win. I'll go back to hating them now that they're not on our team, but I loved them in this tournament and certainly have a new found respect.
