4 Nations Tournament

Well, Cooper can piss off. 5 mins left in a tie game and you don't let Marchand and Jarvis have a shift but put Point with Cirrelli and Hagel for 2 shifts?
Not that I want Jarvis to lose but I hope Aho and Rants kick their ass next Monday at the game I’m at.

Pleasantly surprised by this one, was actually pretty damn electric. Wayyyy better than meaningless all star game crap

what a game.

If this is the new thing it nukes the all stars. Loving this,

Next year don't exclude some of the best players. Please add Russia and ROW teams. ROW with Danish, Czech, German, Swiss, Latvian, Slovak, etc would compete as well.
This is a one off because they didn't have time to plan a full World Cup, we'll have a World Cup every 4 years alternating with the Olympics going forward. (And per the Bettman press conference today, no more North America/Europe stupidity, proper national teams, probably 8). Russia will remain banned from international competition until the international sanctions go away, so don't hold your breath for that, but we'll get the other teams.

So great to have legit best on best international hockey again, and we'll have it every 2 years. Man, I missed it.

Haters proven very wrong so far.

ROW national anthem should be We Are The World
Haiti version or Africa version?

It’s not legit best on best without Russia though, period.

To my mind especially exclude all the national federations and there is no reason to exclude a team of russian players.... I mean even including the federations I'd let the Russians in, if Finland and Sweden and whoever want to boycott, fine... f*** them, that's their choice, but last I checked it was Russian NHL players running Russia.

That said full disclaimer. I really don't give two shits about International Hockey

What does that even mean? Best on best is the best hockey players in the world playing against each other. Not “best players from countries not invading other countries.”
It means he wants to punish russian hockey players becuause of what's essentially a slavic civil war.

Hopefully it will be over soon since the firehoseof money and equipment is being turned off. Also UA troops are defecting in droves. Not good. It's not sustianable and needs to end.

After that OT I'm now curious how well Necas will fit with MacKinnon in OT. Dude seemingly forgot he had McDavid and Makar on a 3-1 and took a low percentage shot that lost possession, then turned around and basically did it again later. Both are going to want to skate the puck but can one (or Makar I suppose) find the soft spots like Aho could do for Necas?

God there are some horrible totally not politically motivated takes about the invasion and occupation of democratic Ukraine.

With that said, let Russia play.
I never understood why anyone thinks what Putin is doing has anything to do with Svech, Kooch, Vasi, Kucherov, etc.

Agree let them play. The ban is obviously not hurting Putin or his invasion. Also is there anything him or the Russian war machine gains out of it?

Even if the Russians were staunch Putin supporters being used as political pawns, what better way to counter their propaganda than to kick their asses on the ice?

I think I'm off this board. Not really because of individual users, but because trying to keep up a strained sense of bonhomie and business-as-usual is getting exhausting and a bit depressing, and I suspect will get moreso in the coming months and years.

So thank you for all the laughs, and thanks to @Tryamw in particular for all the likes.
