I'll say it - the roster/lineup decisions for this team were malpractices in coaching/management. Inexcusably bad. Sullivan and Guerin shouldn't touch another national team.

Based on a loss in overtime? Canada"s decisions (not dressing TK for the final, leaving several younger.stars off.the roster, Thomas Harley merely to stick it to USA Hockey) were far.more dubious.

Just a few thoughts after I digested the result. Overall, I thought it was an evenly matched game; the best players in the world going toe-to-toe. Could’ve gone either way.

I was not impressed with Hughes and Matthews. The US needed their best players to step up; McDavid did, these two did not.

Thoroughly impressed with Larkin, created almost every shift. His speed was a difference maker. Underrated player.

I’m already fired up for the Olympics with a better squad. I wouldn’t expect Nelson, Kreider and Trocheck to return— replaced by superior players. I’d also expect Quinn on the backend, which is a game changer.

I think the U.S. will win in 2026 - on the 30th anniversary of their World Cup win. I hope I'm wrong

As a Canadian, the Americans took the Canadians to OT without 2 of their best defenders (Hughes and McAvoy), an unmotivated and injured Matthew Tkachuk and a red hot Binnington.

The final could have easily gone to the Americans. They were the better team the entire tournament in my opinion and Canada just Canada’d like they always do. One thing is for sure though, Team Canada showed that their high-end power is enough to win them a tournament. That was something I was afraid of.

I think the Americans take 2026, but it will be close

I dont. The strength of the USA roster will be negated by the IIHF rulebook. The Tkachuks won't be able to be run around like chickens with their heads cut off and hook/hold/punch faces after the whistle/make big hits without being called and sitting in the box.

Apart from Matthews and hughes they dont have enough game breakers to truly win a skill based game. If the reffing was more like the 4 nations ( in which the refs just let everything go that wasn't a black and white call) then yes. They could do a lot of damage. Much of their advantages though will be negated by the IIHF rulebook.

If you add Thompson, it's an awfully BIG team in their PRIME...

Guentzel (31) - Eichel (29) - M Tkachuk (28)
B Tkachuk (26) - Matthews (28) - Caufield (25)
Hughes (24) - Larkin (29) - Boldy (24)
Robertson (26) - Trocheck (32) - Thompson (28)
