Canada was able to bring Harley in because Theodore got injured and Makar was sick, so they were down to five [defensemen]. In the U.S. circumstance, with Charlie going down, they still have their six ‘D

Hughes can only play if an existing D man goes down to injury of illness

The small roster sizes probably have something to do with players not being interested in being involved and most likely be a scratch the whole tourney.

US should have someone available to them as 7th D. As soon as Macavoy was ruled out, he should be able to be replaced. Even if he can only play in an emergency situation. What if a D man gets hurt at the game day morning skate?

This tournament has been great on ice. But man what a mess off ice is. How this league trips into success only to find ways to make things harder will never cease to amaze me.

Kind of like having the greatest showing ever when the Rangers won the cup to locking the league down that very next year killing all momentum. So damn weird.

Aren’t we being treated exactly like Canada? We had 7 defensemen, 1 goes down (McAvoy), 1 gets called up (Hughes) but can’t play unless another defenseman gets hurt. Canada had 7 defensemen, 1 goes down (Theodore), 1 gets called up (Harley) and couldn’t play unless another defenseman went down (Makar), then he could play.

Unironically it is keeping the tournament in the conversation for this entire stretch in between the games lol it is ridiculous but it's what's happening.
