That's absurd. No one wants someone flown in for the GMG. If you can't be honest about that, there's no point in having a discussion.
Bedard couldve flown in for medal rounds with Fantilli, Wright, Benson and Korchinski in 2024 and flown in for medal rounds with Celebrini and Benson this year and everyone would've cried when Canada walked to gold and Bedard had 12 points in 3 games

edit - wrong thread I realize

We think Q hughes wants to take the spot of Sanderson or anyone if they're not really injured? Sanderson gave up his holidays to go back up USA and be ready if needed... Hughes chose regular season health and did whatever he wanted over the break... Do we really think captain hughes is gonna take someone else's spot who sacrificed for it? Or does he wanna watch JAck either way and go for gold and he's brining his gear incase someone cant play?

...untrue...and it's been shown to you multiple times that it is untrue...so you're just spinning wheels in the mud, amigo...

Please disprove me that Canada does not have more players on their roster than the US. I'll wait.

He couldn't have played yesterday if he was there. edit.....actually I think he could have because Austin and Matthew were out

Based on what we've seen reported on the rule Quinn could have played against Sweden.

If only Kelly McCrimmon was the USA GM. He’d have it figured out by now on how to bypass that rule.

You really don't get it, do you? McAvoy was hurt so the backup defenseman (Sanderson) played last night. Now with McAvoy out for Thursday, Sanderson becomes the 6th D, and Hughes is the backup if someone else gets hurt.

They wouldn't be allowed to bring in Hughes to replace McAvoy as it would be leaving Sanderson as a scratch. Your comparison would be if Canada brought in Harley to replace Theodore and never subbed in Sanheim to replace Theodore, which they did do.

You also started by saying the NHL was inconsistent because they didn't let the US bring in a replacement yesterday, but that replacement would have been for a forward and not McAvoy. They would have called in a forward since they were down to 11 with Matthews and M. Tkachuk out. Now you're saying it wasn't a requirement for yesterday.

The rule does not state the replacement player would have to be in the same position. You are so out of your depth, mate. Go back to the Canada thread.

Canada has been allowed to roster 8 defenseman and has 1 more player than the 23 player limit even though they only lost 1 player for the tournament. The US also lost 1 player for the tournament and is only allowed to roster 7 defenseman and must stay at the 23 roster limit.

And if the US loses on Thursday none of this is a reason for it. It's just stupid and inconsistent rule application.

Is Harley not just eligible as an emergency replacement for Makar though? Why isn't he dressing when he was Canadas best dman against the US?

...so the FACT that the U.S. hasn't YET added to the roster because of an injury is your issue...the "rule" still applies in the same way it did with Canada & Harley...we can do this all day, amigo; you are trying to prop up a fallacy...

...Canada LOST two defenseman, so they got to call up Harley for THAT game...again, your arguement is a fallacy...

Man...what are you even talking about? Canada currently has 8 defensemen (the 7 original + Harley) and Theodore was knocked out hence the Harley call up, and the US has 8 defensemen (the 7 original + Hughes) with McAvoy now out. Both have 7 active defensemen - 6 of the original 7 and one additional. They're literally in the exact same boat. You don't even make sense.

Why all the whining don't you want to best vs the best of either country isn't it what's it's all about.
It's the same people who whined and complained about Tampa Bay, Vegas, etc. using the rules in a way that benefited them and allowed them to win championships. Just sour individuals, usually cheering for teams that can't win anything.

Most of us Canadian fans want to face the best USA has to offer!

McAvoy is a really difficult loss, I hope he gets better soon and they find a way around it. Down our projected top pair, at least we had more depth and far better goaltending. Time to go get the second one and set the marker for Canada to do stupid roster things for the Olympics. Go USA!
