This isnt meant just for you but for overall my thoughts..

If a team is in the Stanley Cup playoffs, what happens roster wise? They expand. Teams add dozens of players within their organization to be eligible for the playoffs. Why on Earth is that OK and it isn't here? Every country should have access to their entire talent pool to be called upon whenever same as an NHL team can do in the playoffs.
But this is a short tournament. Again, most (all) tournament have deadlines. I agree the organizers should have had a taxi squad but I would not fresh players flown in at this time. If you allow it, where does it end?

You don't have one.

The rule since the tournament started was:

The rule does not state that a team, when dropping below the roster size threshold, has to add a replacement before the game. The NHL is changing the rules on the fly, not to benefit one team or the other, but because they're incompetent and didn't let the teams have the 2 extra skater roster spots they all wanted.

The reality is Canada has one more player on their roster than the US. The US has to lose multiple defenseman for multiple games in order to get one replacement, whereas Canada only needed to lose multiple defenseman for 1 game to get to expand their roster size. That's why the rules are inconsistent.
Do you know what is probably more likely? That Matthews was deemed to be 'out' for last night's game far too late for the US to call anyone up, and now it's looking pretty likely that him and both Tkachuk brothers will be fine for Thursday, so there's no need for them to call up another forward.

And instead of rushing to get a Bruin player like Coyle (or some other player nearby) that just happened to be in Boston to the game in time for 8pm last night, they opted to play down a skater so that they didn't burn their extra player addition, because now if Matthews or someone else is out for Thursday, they could go out and add a Keller, Robertson, Thompson etc. to be the emergency extra player, just like they did with Hughes.

And the reality is that Canada doesn't have one extra roster player than the US, because Hughes is here now, so they have each added a grand total of one new player each. And they didn't lose 'multiple defensemen for multiple games' - they lost one player for one game and still had a backup in Sanderson that stepped in. Stop whining.

Sure? We are not scared lol and if you lose at least you lost best on best.
The NHL is using the same rules with the States that they did with Canada with the Makar stuff. So hopefully someone comes down "sick" tomorrow on your dcore. I think anyone should want to see as close to both nations best out there....the less excuses the better for both sides.

They did, his name is Quinn. He didn't arrive in time for yesterday's game. The rules don't state that was a requirement.
You really don't get it, do you? McAvoy was hurt so the backup defenseman (Sanderson) played last night. Now with McAvoy out for Thursday, Sanderson becomes the 6th D, and Hughes is the backup if someone else gets hurt.

They wouldn't be allowed to bring in Hughes to replace McAvoy as it would be leaving Sanderson as a scratch. Your comparison would be if Canada brought in Harley to replace Theodore and never subbed in Sanheim to replace Theodore, which they did do.

You also started by saying the NHL was inconsistent because they didn't let the US bring in a replacement yesterday, but that replacement would have been for a forward and not McAvoy. They would have called in a forward since they were down to 11 with Matthews and M. Tkachuk out. Now you're saying it wasn't a requirement for yesterday.

Reads like one of those alternate timeline post-apocalyptic shows/movies/games

Oh I wasn't aware they missed the tournament because they were hurt
What difference does it make? Why not fly them in - whether hurt or not? Anyway, this discussion is getting silly so I am going to bow out.

I am Canadian and hate Vancouver.

I hope Quinn plays. The roster would have included him to begin with if not for injuries, and the only way he gets in is as a replacement of an injury.

It’s not like they’re trying to throw a curveball and replace a player that’s struggling. He deserves to be there and should have been, if not for injury. Anyone arguing semantics is just fearful of how this could effect the outcome of the final.

Lmao I am being honest and you're in denial. We all want best on best and WJC always has the "Canada's best aren't there" excuse.
I don't know what that means.

Players can't be flown in for the GMG - it's silly to say otherwise. Again, I am going to bow out.

Short tournament or not. A team can get swept in the playoffs first round and would be less days than this has been.

I get your point and I know you aren't defending the roster sizes. Just weird that NHL teams come playoff time is almost like Bourbon St in New Orleans with add whoever the hell you want craziness...but here you are told you can only add players for a certain position lol...

Splitting hairs but the first game to last game for both teams will be about a week. A four game playoff series is about the same as that if not a bit longer.

I think we're all in agreement that there should have been more than 13F/7D allowed and it would have prevented a lot of this uncertainty. Canada could have had Harley and another forward and the US could have had another F and D and this wouldn't even be a conversation.

They had a few days of practices as well prior to the first game so 10 days..about the same as a sweep would be
