I don't think it matters if I have a problem with it or not. But I do think the NHL would do its due diligence to ensure said player is actually hurt.
well you go ahead and keep thinking that. Sorry that your bubble will be burst on Thursday when he shows up in the lineup due to someone's phantom injury that will magically go away Saturday. Sorry not sorry. You want best on best or you want to Canada to have an easier time due to a technicality? Is that what Canada Hockey has come to?

Don't think you understood my point - I never said he was coming here to cheer on his brother. I said he's clearly been added as an emergency replacement and therefore is going to Boston with his gear so that he is ready to play if someone else gets hurt, but that doesn't mean he is 100% going to play. It's an insurance policy for the US.
I am telling you there are 0 expectations he is coming as a backup from USA Hockey. What the hell does a backup do with only 1 game left? They will figure out how to have him play. This isn't rocket science.

Technically that could be exactly what's happening. McAvoy isn't playing, so Hughes could be replacing him as the defenseman that isn't playing.
Daly said this morning he could only play if another US dman has an injury or illness so they would lnt be down to only 5 active dman

Yeah and its a whole life policy getting turned in.

You're not really 'bursting my bubble' - I wouldn't be surprised if he plays at all and like I said it doesn't matter what I think. That said, it's Tuesday and the game is over 48 hours away, so no one here knows what will happen with absolute certainty. Nothing I'm saying means I 'don't want best on best' lol.

It's already been widely reported that he's an injury replacement in case someone else is hurt, not McAvoy.
You think he'd be wasting his time going to Boston if he wasn't playing? John Carlson is a closer plane ride if they just wanted a body.

Seems like Canada is trying to win on technicalities which is so on brand for them.

Wrong. I, and coach Sullivan, are absolutely certain that QHughes will be in the lineup Thursday night.

I don't think the distance to Boston mattered in the decision at all lol - the US had a choice of who they brought as the replacement and Hughes was the best option (obviously), so your point about Carlson is irrelevant.

I don't think my opinion on HFBoards has anything to do with Canada 'winning on technicalities'. Bit of a bizarre take.

No matter what happens this should be an eye opener for the NHL. There is no damn reason teams shouldn't be able to add replacements. This tourney is being held in North America where 100% of the player pools are from. You want best on best then play games when injuries happen?

We couldn't even fill out a full damn roster yesterday, tell me how that makes any damn sense when you're trying to grow the game?

This should be 25 man roster min. And if subs are still needed allot 2 extra injury subs per team. Who gives a shit this isn't the Stanley Cup finals. And this goes for all countries. Canada should be able to add whoever the hell they needed to as well. End rant.

Smells like fear

Want to follow the rules even if they are stupid.
