Hopefully they split up Aho and Hintz, it just doesn't feel like they are geling at all. Both are really good players but just don't mash up well.

Since my pillow felt too good and I missed the Canada - USA match(3 am start, ugh), I need to watch the replay and see how Canada fared. I feel our chances are better against Canada now after the Sweden game, but we need to get all of the lines rolling and make the right choice on goalie. Need everything to go right in order to advance to the finals.

Anyways, can't wait for the game!

Aho has been disappointing, same with Hintz. Both have not had the best season in the NHL either, but I've expected more especially from Aho.

Our defence has been a pleasant surprise.

I really liked what I saw from Matinpalo and Laine last night. Granlund was good as usual.

Now, if only Rantanen, Barkov and Aho woke up we'd have better chances at championship game

I thought Barkov and Rantanen were good actually, but let's hope they all step up a gear as they'll need to.

TBH, not hugely confident about tomorrow's game - particularly as Canada would be desperate. I think the best result for us would be to be competitive and potentially play spoiler. Obviously a win would be amazing...

There should be no one doubtting me now. The modern Finnish stars do not care about their country. They only won against Sweden because of superior individual skill.

Now that the opponent has equal or better skill you can see the lack of heart. One of the best center in NHL in Hintz just casually passes the puck to Canadian for open scoring chance and he laughs about it on bench.

You can't show up with a bunch of AHL defensemen and expect to win. Our forwards would look a lot better with a Cale Makar making plays for them, instead of some dudes who will be playing in Liiga in a couple of years.

However they still wouldn't be able to outscore the absolutely terrible goaltending we've gotten all tournament.

To say that I'm worried about the Olympics under Pennanen, would be an understatement.
I almost hope we end up losing all the games at WHC (except the relegation game) so we can get rid of this guy. Finland needs an actual coach for the Olympics. We cannot afford to waste our golden generation for some guy's TET-practice at coaching.

I'll give him the chance, we won't know how it goes in the WHC. He has had good results so far coaching the team at least in EHT. Its always a mystery how the best players react with a coach they are not familiar with and they haven't had much time to get used to the system. I do agree Pennanen acted a bit strange and they should've preactised the day the skipped it.. it was so weird.

When individuals like Hintz and Aho underperform like that, we gotta dive a bit deeper. The difference between Jalonen hockey and this one was massive.

We all know that Jalonen had his structure and everyone had to play it, or you are not playing at all. Westerlund was tactical genious and everyone listened to him. Now it seems like Pennanen just told the guys to play and that's it.

Sure, it's enough to beat Sweden with these guys. And we did surprisingly well against the US for the first 2 periods, but when there is no real structure and guys are not sure what to do in every situation, we see horrible mistakes that lose games.

This wasn't typical well structured team, it was bunch of friends playing for each other. They gave everything they had, but this is not pond hockey. Is Erkka retired for good? Maybe he could take over for the Olympics.
