World Cup: 4 Nations Tournament - Team Finland (2025)

Sweden and USA out, (My Sweden is in a state of decline in every way since a couple of years back and I think you can guess why with all that is happening - and USA always fails in international tournaments)

Do tell why you think it's happening for Sweden, because I don't tknow. I've been surprised that Sweden doesn't produce as high quality forwards as they once did, such as Foppa, Sedins and the likes. The level of defenders is great of course.

Fellow Finns, tell me if I'm right about this. The Canada vs Sweden game will not be shown live on free TV, but the CAN-SWE game is coming 14:55 from "Nelonen" channel (AKA channel four) or else what is this "Jääkiekon 4 Nations Face-Off"? It's taking 2 hours and 30 mins of TV time, so I have to assume it's that CAN-SWE game? Clicking it also doesn't give information. So does anyone have a clue about this? I hope it's not some kind of long hype show with no game.

I agree that it's not to compare to the golden generations we had before .

I do think Bratt and Raymond are great players and somehow I hope that they can bridge the gap and that we get more talents from younger age. Then there is Leo Carlsson and Eklund in San Jose, but I am not sure how it compares to Finlands younger talents, are there more young talented forwards there ? WIll defenders or forwards be the relatively stronger thing for you in the years to come ?

Someone else can probably answer that better, but you might be aware of the fact that Finnish player development has been in decline for a moment. Player drafting kind of is a sign of this as well.

The Finnish liiga is in a freefall. Many teams choose to employ foreign players for their third lines which makes it worse long term.
Maybe it will be better now when they have a Mestis qualifying for Liiga ? Allthough it's hell when your own team gets relegated I must admit that makes things 100 times more exciting

The most tense game in SHL and HockeyAllsvenskan are really qualifying /relegation games . Sorry for Off-topic

Anyway I like your forwards group in this 4 nation tournament - not only your centers which of course are top notch , but it seems much more well rounded than Swedens in that you selected players with a little bit more grit. The Swedish coach in my opinion selected too many elegant but less tough players,

William Karlsson will be missed and instead we got too many like Rakell, Elias Lindholm, Arvidsson and that type

Finlands success will probably depend on how well the defence will handle the toughest opponents like McDavid etc

I doubt this is the case. This generation of Finnish players don't really seem to care about national games. Canada and Sweden are much more patriotic and we all know how crazy americans are when it comes to patriotism.

I wouldn't be surprised if Finns are just lazily skating around trying not to get injured. Well outside of Barkov that is.

This guy is talking out of his ***. You clearly have no idea of Finnish mentality.

Winning this for Finland would be huge pride for the country.

And remember: almost the whole lot of us in a slow boat (Viking Line!) from Husqvarna/JKPG Sweden were there for Finland in a cold, cold Helsinki JVM 2016. And a couple o' ours Swedes out of course ...

Aho/Laine-stuff. Remember.

Why?

We are Finland - who are you?!

What actions? That Finnish players have not participated when they are negotiating on a contract, like they always have?
There have been multiple instances where that wasn't the case. Canada,Sweden and Russia have always gotten players who didn't have contracts.

No they haven't  and neither did Finland with the "previous generations".

You are literally making stuff up.
