World Cup: 4 Nations Tournament - Team Finland (2025)

I really hope Kakko plays top6 but perhaps not in the PP. Top9 will work as well. I believe he can contribute a lot with other smart and skilled players on his line.
Too many Rangers fans being salty even after his departure. Mind blowing quite frankly. If anything, complain about your system and staff giving the opportunities to wrong players both short- and longterm.

Feel like him and Laine and their current form makes Finland so much more competitive. Winger position aint weak anymore and D's are the only main concern.
I hope they can all stay healthy and that they add Vaakanainen to the lineup.

Very quiet here compared to other participating countries threads.

With Rantanen traded to CAR the case for putting him with Aho becomes slightly stronger. Anyway ice time is usually more balanced among lines in these tournaments.

Laine - Barkov - Granlund
Teräväinen - Aho - Rantanen

feels like good synergy of strengths in both lines to me - but admittedly I haven't seen enough of Granlund or Teräväinen lately.

Lehkonen - Hintz - Kakko
Luostarinen - Lundell - Armia

Maybe switch Kakko and Armia since Hintz line feels more rushy and 4th more cycle

I don't know how other finns feel but to me, this just looks like a practice tournament. Sure it's best-on-best but only 4 countries, in my eyes this is like super charged "EHT". And i just don't see that there is anything to actually win here, this tournament doesn't have the prestige of Canada/World Cup or the Olympics.

But the positive sides are that Pennanen gets to drive his system in, a little jump start towards the Olympics, that will work in our favor in a long run. I don't care if we lose every game in this tournament but the guys will be much more prepared in Italy. Second thing, no all-star week. I hate that shit, this is much much better than extremely boring all-star week.
----------------------------------
I would go with these lines

Hintz - Barkov(C) - Laine
Lehkonen - Aho - Rantanen(A)
Teräväinen - Granlund(A) - Kakko
Luostarinen - Lundell - Armia
Haula

Heiskanen - Lindell
Mikkola - Ristolainen
Määttä - Välimäki
Hakanpää

1st line takes the hardest match ups, Hintz adds there much needed speed. Brand new "caro-line", spiced up with Mikko's Avs connection. 3rd line secondary scoring and 4th is shutdown line.

If Heiskanen is out of the tournament, I just went from optimistic and excited to barely even having interest in the tournament anymore. Without Heiskanen our D will be so thin, it could be painful. What is it with Team Finland and always having major injuries in best on best tournaments, this is bullshit. f*** Mark Stone. Wish we had a Karalahti type player to replace Heiskanen, to teach Stone a lesson. Alas, we don't. Maybe we give Vaakanainen a chance? He has decent puck skills.

Perfect, that was a only player in this tournament who was actually irreplaceable to his team. I guess we have to pick someone that can play with a puck a little, Heinola?

With Miro out, our best scoring D for this season is Mikkola 0.35 ppg and highest-scoring PP defenseman is Ristolainen with 2 pp points. Välimäki was decent in a PP QB for one season 2 years ago tho... FFS that's so terrible luck, was so excited to see how Finland can compete against others but w/o Heiskanen it's impossible.

Can we try Aho/Hintz as our #1D please?

If nothing is broken, he'll play. So let's hope for the best.

I have the craziest idea, hear me out... Barkov as 1st D? :sarcasm: We have the center depth, and I'm sure Mr Selke / Mr Perfect could do a good job.

Just imagine the reaction if Barky actually pulled that off.

Fedorov did that in Detroit back in the day and had no problems at all. But difference here is that Fedorov skated faster backwards than most players forwards.

Looking fresh 🤩 any news on Heiskanen?
He is week to week and "doubtful" for 4 Nations.

We were already the underdogs, but I was really hopeful and thought we were underrated. But Heiskanen is by far the single most irreplaceable player for any team in the tournament, so needless to say we are even bigger underdogs now. Not even Canada losing McDavid would compare. If Miro is out, we could be looking at something like this:

Lindell - Ristolainen
Mikkola - Vaakanainen
Määttä - Välimäki

Yeah, not optimal. If they all play their asses off and all the excellent two-way forwards we have make the D's work easier, I guess we could still pull it off. Also: Stone, pidä pää ylhäällä.

Well my interest for the tournament just plummeted. We've been waiting years for this and then the player that we absolutely can't be without gets injured by some idiot.

F**k Mark Stone
