Trump fan Wayne Gretzky didn’t even bother putting on a Canada team shirt!

Hockey players probably don’t care. But I wonder more what Brady’s grandparents think.

On his moms side they’re of Canadian heritage and on his dads they’re of Ukrainian heritage.

You’d think the Tkachuk’s would be anti-Orange just based on that…
What is Brady's wife's heritage before her parents or grandparents emigrated to Canada?

holy smokes the streams have pooped the bed
half of canada watching onhockeyy
USA feed/play by play is barf
The Sportsnet crew is crap too. They are being "politically correct" on a broadcast to Canadians when the President of the USA is threatening the existence of our nation. Go F yourselves Rogers Sportsnet!

We need live threads back so these boards can be even more slow and glitchy
Great upgrade to the site, eh!!!
It seems that homework was not done before the upgrade took place.

Marner comes up with 2 huge assists when all the marbles were on the line.

All the Sens did us proud in this one.
Has Brady played any better ?

What a game. What a finish.

2 very evenly matched teams .. Binnington deserves a lot of credit

Jarvis wasn't up to this level. I like the player but he just wasn't up to it. Bennett and Marchand should have been played more.
Stone looked too slow.

Incredible win last night! But after a night of celebrating I think it’s time to get down to the brass tacks.

I think it’s pretty clear that Quebec absorbs Louisiana and Florida (anyone who’s been to Quebec and Florida will know why.) The West coast is pretty straightforward with Washington, Oregon and California joining BC. Michigan, Ohio and New York will be governed by Dougy Ford. And I suggest we give Texas to Mexico in exchange for a years supply of free avocados for every Canadian.

But what do we do with like… Kansas?

Why are we mad at P.K.? Akium Ali called him out - what is going on? Why did P.K. so?
I'm thinking because he tweeted Trump was possibly going to the game, people are upset because it's Trump. He works for ESPN in the States, not TSN or Sportsnet in Canada.

Aliu made a post about racism and P.K as well in reference to the quote, nothing more than him not liking the guy or his political leanings. Was upset he was using his platform for plublicity reasons. I mean, yeah, those interviews and appearances were huge for the Sport.

P.K gave about 3/4 interviews that had literally all of U.S talking about how the NHL is so different and so much better than the NBA when it comes to the fans and players caring and giving the fans what they want. It was shared and commented on by about 100 of the biggest athletes and reporters in the States that would otherwise not give a shit about hockey.

P.K is a loudmouth who says what is in his head, always has been and always will be. That's what the NHL needs right now. I really don't, and never have, liked him, but he helped gain traction.

League has been trying to grow for 40 years, they found thier route with this tournament, and P.K has about 3 interviews making waves in the States about what hockey is and how it's played with competiveness and pride, something everyone agreed the NBA doesn't do as they were comparing how the sports were different that is playing a pretty large part in that

That was as big a win as you could want for the NHL, especially in the States. It's all anyone was talking about down there for a week. That has never happened with hockey.

A win for the States, though terrible for us, would have been huge for the game down south.

If you're the owners of the league you probably pulled for the USA winning, and Brady going to the Rangers at the deadline.

It feels like this tournament finally achieved the "grow the game" argument that everybody seems to have for the Olympics, but that never actually happens because they simply aren't good business partners for the NHL, and the league has no control over the setup, play style, and marketing.

The league should never go to the Olympics again. This is proof of it. If the players want it bad enough to give up something in CBA negotiations, that is silly, but it's on them. This tournament was proof that a best on best, or something close to that, arranged by the league and PA is really what's best for business.

I get his point but I appreciate that the Tkachuks understand how to market the league. They know how to make the moment bigger and that’s what the NHL needs.

Hagel responding after the win with a picture of their group chat titled “Champions” was great too.
Absolutely.

They needed to lean into the political and patriotic landscape. That got everyone invested into the game, bringing in such a gigantic audience that otherwise never would have given the NHL or hockey the time of day.

Those 3 fights may be the biggest win for the NHL in the past 40 years

They players did wonders marketing this as an "us vs. them mentality", and it caught on like wildfire down south

That bolded disingenuous, Aliu literally grew up with Subban and didn't make any comment on who Subban votes for. Aliu called out Subban for only using his platform for publicity and not speaking out about the issues Canada is facing because of Agent Orange.

Subban is being a sellout to his country. Yes its creating more awareness for the game, but picking that over BS Canada is experience. Subban is being incredibly tone-deaf in his interviews talking about how the 4N final might be bigger than the Cup Finals while excluding why it might be bigger (hint: the political nonsense is a big reason why). Aliu is asking Subban if it is worth it for him to use his platform to promote the game, while ignoring how Canada is being treated.

The NHL benefits from loudmouths in the media, but it doesn't only have to be tone deaf takes that ignore the larger political climate.

I didn't think they were over the moon on anything. I was wondering what it was about .. them saying its our time?
I think Marchand is just trying to rub some salt in the wound
