Good, we wanted best on best right? I would’ve liked both squads to be 100% healthy but not realistic unfortunately. Having Makar and Hughes in the final game would be awesome
He can't play unless another US D can't go. If one of them get a last minute flu, then we'll know something is up.

With these USA-Canada bouts it seems to come down to goaltending. Hellebuyck is playing like Carey Price in his prime. Binnington will need to step up big time, he seems to let in one or two soft goals a game.

I feel that Canada has the better offense and certainly centre depth. Canada's offense will need to out perform Hellebuyck and the US defense. We have to score at least 4 goals to win this one IMO.

McDavid and MacKinnon will have to go into hero beast mode to win this one.

It's been a bit of a coming out party for Tkachuk.

Good thing we have him under contract for awhile.

Some here wanna sell him away. I guess as Sens fans we are not allowed to have good things lol.

I hope he stays a Senator for life. A true unicorn.

If you trade everyone away at precisely their peak value, you will maximize the value of your assets.

And that's what hockey is all about.

Rinse and repeat and we keep being a development league for others. Hopefully no more under Andlauer. He knows he’s got a gem in Tkachuk.

Yeah, Brady is going to be the first big signing that really allows the team to separate themselves from the Melnyk era.

From a business standpoint even beyond the hockey, they will fight tooth and nail to keep him.

No doubt, but it probably won't be up to them. As of July 2nd, Brady and his family will have complete control, so we'll see how much he wants to keep playing here.

Brady timed his free agency perfectly. While I don't think he would have stayed here after a bridge deal, it would have probably worked out better for us in the long run if we had to re-up him 2-3 years ago. The cap is expected to be 113M during his last contract year. Let's say it goes a few million to 117M in 2028-29 when he would have the option to test unrestricted free agency.

Panarin would be the last comparable UFA to Brady to hit the open market, he signed for 13.2 percent of the salary cap. That would be 15.44M under a 117M cap ceiling. Guentzel got 10.2 percent last year, which under a 117M cap would be a 11.93M.

Anywhere between 12 and 16 probably sounds right under a almost 120M cap ceiling. NMC. Frontloaded. Signing bonuses. Keys to the CTC, etc.

If we get four serious chances at playoffs out of him, and then he leaves, it is what it is. I have a hard time believing we are going to retain him after free agency, I'm not even sure he will be here come July 1st if we don't do some damage in the playoffs. I also think this tournament, and all the Canada/America tension is going to work against him staying in the short term. If he was even remotely unhappy here, and if his wife is nagging him to get Staios to accept Marino, Holtz, and a 2nd from New Jersey, then the current climate is just the cherry on top, or the straw that broke the Tkachuk's trade request. His NMC kicking in on July 1st gives him leverage to say "I'm not asking for a trade, but it would be pretty unfortuante if my NMC kicked in and I realized I wasn't too happy here, capiche."

If you're his super agent family you're looking at this guy and knowing he belongs in a big American market where he can win and become a household name. With his wife being from Jersey, the Rangers stuff makes my Senspiracy theories run wild about who could have been behind it.

Matthew Tkachuk will probably like this post with this throwaway account.
