Bedard is going to finish the year with 70+ fewer points than the real dawgs like McDavid and Nate. He is almost literally a nobody in this conversation.
Uber talented kid. 2nd youngest player in the league playing on the worst team. The stats don’t really matter here. I’d definitely include him.

I get folks wanting more experienced players but I think he could be a great addition.

I actually like the team. Lots of Cup winners (17x) and teammates. And that famous Marchand-Crosby duo, we all would expect MacKinnon to replace Bergeron well.

It's not a terrible team. I'm fine with Hagel / Cirelli. Both are great two-way players, who have tons of playoff experience.

I also don't think this is actually the team that plays. Stone, in particular, is always injured, and has a bad back. We'll see.

No Wilson or Bouchard is a plus.

There's no All Star Game this year; instead the NHL is hosting the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, a 4 team tournament with Canada, USA, Finland & Sweden participating.

Tournament takes place February 12-20 in Montreal & Boston with Round Robin play between the four teams.

The top 2 teams will play in a Championship game, which will be held in Boston.

Canada & US teams are to be announced Wednesday, December 4th, at 6:30 PM on SN.

It's possible no Canadiens players makes any of the teams, but here are the candidates:

Canada: Suzuki, Montembeault
USA: Caufield
Finland: Laine, Armia
Sweden: Heineman

That's about it really.

Apparently, Travis Sanheim, of Philadelphia, has made Team Canada. I'm sure we'll hear more leaks before the official announcement.

Use this thread to discuss anything related to this tournament.
Is this for real? sounds like a waste of time. How can players give it all they got and risk injury for what?

It's for real. No All Star Game this year; instead they're doing this tournament. It's a money grab by NHL & NHLPA.

Teams have a 12 day break in February to hold this event. I'm not all that interested in it, but considering there's no hockey for like 2 weeks I'll probably end up watching some games.

Montreal plays February 9th then doesn't play again til February 22nd.

"Just the opportunity to do that is a dream come true," McDavid said Friday. "I've been vocal about this and I feel that it's important for hockey as we continue to try and grow our game internationally and at home."

TSN says it is expected Laine will make team Finland. I am not sure how I feel about that. To me, that's additional risk of injury and nothing more.

This will replace the all star game so don't expect big hits imo. The play should be softer than the NHL regular games. Could be a good way to get in shape while avoiding 4th line / 3rd pairing scrubs.
