What’s the end game with this? I’m generally curious if you think Trump cares. He’s a narcissist. He’ll be getting off to this. Lol why can’t we just keep politics out of hockey?

Because we are Canadian citizens and it's an international tournament game against the country that is trying to annex us. There are few places where you get a platform to vocally voice your resistance to such insanity and have it be known, and talked about at a bigger scale.

Being quiet and compliant is exactly what they would want to see. It's how they got into power again.

We aren’t being compliant. Every political party in this currently dysfunctional country is on the same page as far standing up to Trump. All you’re really accomplishing is putting attention on the stereotype that all we are is a bunch of hockey stick holding Canucks that offer nothing in terms of what Trump is trying to demand. The players and everyone else are caught in the crosshairs and we just look dumb.

Edit: The reason I responded to your post is because I don’t think we should be using HFHabs to encourage hate by booing another countries anthem. I’ve been here for 15 years and we’re above that.

Nah, we have been nothing but great allies to the USA and Trump is mad because he doesn't like the terms of a trade deal he negotiated and called 'the biggest win'.

If we aren't vocal, we are passive. Trump would turn that into a "Canada was silent because they want to be part of the USA" spin so fast.

We shouldn't sit in the cuck chair because we are 'above that'.

USA teams and fanbases boo our anthem WITHOUT any turmoil going on and will constantly chant "USA! USA! USA!" when winning those games. We've never stooped to that level. But this is a time where we should not only vocalize our displeasure and resistance, but also let Pollievre and all other pseudo wanna be Trump fascists that this type of behaviour and this type of politics is not what we want here at home.

I’m pretty sure Trump made his first tweet about annexing Canada after he was president elect. I don’t hold American’s responsible for his actions after that on something they didn’t know. Like you said, we have been great allies. I don’t think the majority of them would’ve voted for him knowing what he would do. I’d rather we don’t play those games at all. We won’t accomplish anything by a simple “boo” at a hockey game. Every boo he gets at these games, he gets treated like royalty at a UFC event which gets seen by more people globally. No reason to punish the players. And Pollievre wouldn’t even be considered right wing in the States. He’s far too progressive for the Red states.

The four nations tournament doesn’t have the playoff intensity. It’s perfect for the Leafs players.

I don't hold the population accountable either, but they can f***ing stop making stupid comments on social media and even on this board about liking it, wanting it, etc. Just in the four nations section after they won against Finland, it was gross (1 comment in particular where it didn't matter because we didn't have a future).
