Going back with Binnington is crazy. Why even pick Monty and Hill if you have zero trust in them? Might as well have gone with Thompson/Fleury/Blackwood.

I don't really really trust any of them at this time but you hope whoever has the ball gets hot.

Binnington's NHL GM happens to be the GM of the 2026 Canadian Olympic team so that might be helping him as well.

It's so strange to worry about goaltending. Going from Patrick Roy/Broduer/Belfour to Luongo/Price..... to this.

I also think defense has taken a hit. The top 4 a decade ago would have had Keith, doughty, Weber, and peiterangelo.

Montembault should have been the choice tonight. Hill is crap. Thompson should have been picked instead of Hill and been the starter tonight.

And a bum like Haula is playing. At least Armia can defend.

Montembeaut looks like he is struggling with handling the excessive workload that he has been given. Only hellebyuck and vasilevsky have played more this year and they happen to be the two biggest workhorses over the last several years.

And Hellrbyuck faded in the playoffs which could have had something to do with his workload.

Hellebyuck's playoff history is not good.... not just last year.

I've been questioning why winnipeg continues to ride him like this. They've been comfortably in the playoffs for pretty much the whole year. Why not take advantage of that buffer and try to manage hellebyuck's load?

I'm starting to wonder if this is just one of those situations where it's actually the player demanding the workload.... and winnipeg probably has to work extra hard to keep their players happy given their player retention issues.
