Are you saying destroy as in beating 6-1 like they did to Finland?

I personally doubt it when you consider the 3 best players on the planet are on team Canada. They could just double shift their best 2 lines if they are down.

Could the USA win? No doubt, but it will be close. I doubt they <destroy> as you say.
Maybe not destroy like 6-1. But, I can see USA winning this tournament. Canada does not have any elite goalie. Team USA feel more balanced.

The problems I see are definitely blue line and back.
We've seen time and time again just how tight these best on best games can be.
I don't think we will be holding the good teams to 1 goal which is what it took from Carey Price and his D group. Even going back as far as Patrick Roy two goals against was a death knoll against Hasek.
I don't think our offense is any better than some of those teams. We are probably looking at having to score three goals minimum to win these games.

McDavid took a backseat to Crosby and MacKinnon last game. I expect him to have a huge game tonight. All this big bad American team stuff is overblown. We still have the two best forwards and the best defensemen in the game. Plus----Sid. We are getting slept on because of the questionable bottom 6 players.

Regardless of what happens here...when we add Bedard and Celebrini in '26 and '28 we might be unstoppable

I don't agree. Bedard and Celebrini are nothing we don't already have. I would trade both Bedard and Celebrini for a Price or even a Joseph. Binnington showed you how important a top notch goalie is to a team. He let in two bad goals in regular time and allowed Sweden to be in the game but then made two great saves in overtime. A top notch goalie would have made the two saves in regular time and spared us the overtime.

Compared to the states, we obviously have the better forward group. The defence is equal. In nets, the states have it over us by a huge margin. We'd almost be better off playing with no goalie and a 6th skater.

Logan Thompson is looking pretty damn good these days. He may very well win the Vezina. 2026 Olympics and Canada could have the reigning Vezina winner tending. Not too shabby.

Im adding Bedard and Celebrini to this lineup all day.

Celebrini - McDavid - Marner
Crosby - MacKinnon - Bedard
Marchand - Point - Konecny
Jarvis - Schiefele - Stone

I don't have either of those guys over Reinhart. I don't think Marchand will be there either. There could be some changes with the bottom 6, besides Point who I think is a lock but the other 5 spots are open imo.

Having Pietrangelo and Theodore would have made today’s game so much different.

Next year’s Olympics will be a different story.

Makar is out too.

We had a family dinner last week and everyone caught the good ol RONA 😌

So Canada without their top 3 Ds, totally outmatched in net vs the USA playing for #13 in hostile territory...if i was a betting man I'd go USA.

Prices are crazy

I'm sorry but this REALLY pisses me off...you wanna boo the players, of course...you do not boo the National Anthem, of your own country or that of any other...as a Disabled Veteran, I've had friends, both Canadian & American, who gave their f*cking lives for our Countries, for our Anthems...I gave my health...tell me, what have you given to earn the right to boo what others have given their lives for??
On another hand there should be be anthem at a NHL hockey game. This is a NHL competition not an international competition. The NHL could have avoided all this by just not having the anthem and when questioned about it saying they removed them to not confuse people on the nature of the competition.

Makar is back on the ice this morning.

Looking forward to this game tonight. It’s been over a decade since a true best on best Canada-US game on the men’s side. I expect Canada to go out flying tonight, hopefully the goaltending can hold up.

I like Finland’s centres a lot more than Sweden’s. The defence though, what a difference between the two teams. I just think it’s too much to overcome for Finland.
