My kid's American friends are pissed at the booing of their anthem. They had no clue why their anthem was booed, I suspect a rather large percentage of Americans are not up to the current events concerning Canada vs Dump.

Hopefully Boston sends a message of their own to the orange idiot and cheer our anthem. But it’s Boston so I doubt it lol
I think Boston had a sweet moment recently actually where the singer’s mic cut out and the crowd finished the Canadian anthem

Maybe they will send a message by loudly cheering the Canadian anthem, to show they are better

That would be great, but I highly doubt it.

I don't think the US roster is better, I still think we'd win a 4 of 7.
But winning international tournament is a skill. Given we haven't practiced this skill in 9 years, I think the US has become better at forming teams/systems to win international tourneys and this is starting to translate up.

If I look at the draft years for the next 5 years, Canada is way ahead. It looks to me like the US is peaking much like Finland. Russia, Sweden had some peaks. They have the best team they will have for this tournament and this olympics, and then in 5 years Canada will be back on top with the Celebrini-Dupont generation. That's what the drafts looks like.

Yes, these types of tournaments have alot to do with coming together as a team in a short period of time, but as far as rosters go, I see the Americans having an edge on defense and a gigantic edge in goal, while Canada having the edge at forward.

When going through this exercise of comparing rosters in best on best tournaments prior to this one, i would have never given america the edge on any of those elements.

Massachusetts has always been a blue state as far as i can recall so I don't think they would have much maga power.

It will be interesting to see how they react. I know here in Canada, the booing is about the threats and rhetoric directed towards them by the american government but it's probably hard for the american people not to take that personally. I'd understand if they boo, but there's precedent for them to go the other way too in Boston.

I think you’re mixing this up with the multiple recent times Canadian crowds have finished The Star Spangled Banner for a singer done in by technical difficulties, etc

Because American media barely cover American foreign policies. That said, booing an anthem always come with a lot of ambiguity, the scope of what is booed is virtually infinite.

Helleybuck hasn't proven anything yet. I think we'd play a shoot game with bodies in front we'd score plenty.

I think they have a good D, but its easy to say when Canada doesn't bring their best forwards according to advanced stats, they try to roll-play a team. Team Canada B would still give team USA 1 a run for their money.

It's not hellebyuck in isolation that we are looking at. Its hellebyuck, oettinger and swayman against Binnington, hill and montembeault. America's top 2 is far better than what the Canadians have.

Nobody has played more than hellebyuck over the last several years, and that's probably hurt the jets come the playoffs, but there is no debate who I would prefer in the Canada net.

I see Canada as a team today that USA has to be concerned about (much like canada was about them in the past), but stacking the rosters side by side, Canada only has the edge in forwards these days.

Pronger bringing the elbow of truth to all of this.

Canada is definitely capable of beating the USA, they just didn't get the bounces last game. If we can get a rematch there's no reason to assume we're going to lose. Not to mention Makar will likely return. Wish we had better goalies but here we are. Let's go Canada!

Not really, somebody boos your country, anyone would boo back lol. Also , this is probably the beginning of the end of Anthems, which is a good thing. The league used to be almost 90% usa/canada, the anthem tradition is old and done for.. we started it, the NHL fans in the USA will boo 10x worse and I think we deserve it. What did the dorks in Montreal think was going to happen once the season starts? Sucks for Cole and our American players, a slap in the face.
The booing started at other venues long before the Dorks in Montreal decided it would be okay to demonstrate exactly how they are feeling. :dunno:
