They play the World Championships every year...
This is a money grab and the sad thing for me is these are all HIGHLY paid stars.
The World Cup was a joke and this is no better.
Why would you even risk your season over what will be a pittance.
Players will receive an undetermined amount of money

The World Championships are an International tournament. 4 Nations is an NHL tournament

The WC's are long established and played every year so they have a significant following. 4 Nations has no history and who knows if it will ever be played again.

Beyond that this tournament is breaking up the NHL season and shoehorning a bunch of league games together in succession. What did the Habs play, 9 games in 16 days?

The Canada Cup was a great tournament which briefly morphed into the World Cup. That's the international tournament that would interest me most. Will we ever see that again in a real World Cup format? Who knows...

A real "World Cup" would be interesting but let's face it the only thing that sold the Canada Cup was the participation of the Soviet Union. There will never again be that level of angst and anticipation between two hockey Nations on this side of the pond. I'm really hoping we see Russia sometime soon in International Events and I also wish the Olympics would change the eligibility criteria to U23.
That would make a World Cup every four years far more interesting.

Games:

Wed. Feb 12th, 8 PM: Canada vs Sweden
Thurs. Feb 13th, 8 PM: USA vs Finland

Sat. Feb. 15th, 1 PM: Finland vs Sweden; 8 PM: Canada vs USA

Mon. Feb. 17th, 1 PM: Canada vs Finland; 8 PM: Sweden vs USA

It's a Round Robin tournament. Top 2 teams play in Championship Game: Thurs. Feb 20th, 8 PM.

All games on Sportsnet.

I'm generally curious...does anyone actually care about this tourney?
Feels like the biggest, season interrupting, money grabbin ,WGAF tourney I've ever seen...
doubt I'll watch...
maybe just the gold medal game...
Do they even give gold medals?
Or like, The Bettman Ring or something?

I thoroughly enjoyed the World Cup of Hockey. This one however seems boring. Especially with no Russia.

Inconsequential Games with no stake , sounds like the last 3 seasons of the Habs

Not really but I'll probably watch it.
 
Not only do I have zero interest in this farce of a money-grab tournament, I will probably lose some of my usual interest in the NHL itself during this unnecessarily long break in the season.

Bettman needs to give up his idea that the NHL can replace best-on-best international hockey with these league-run sideshows.
 
I hope the American anthem gets trounced and get a few pointed chants at the orange moron who continues to threaten annexation of Canada.
