I was entertained if a little disappointed. The desire and effort for a "showcase" event was fantastic. Thanks everyone. Echoing others who are thankful the Devils's players are injury free.


It was a joy to watch the US D. I really liked Werenski, Slavin, and Sanderson - against absolute beasts. What a matchup!

A few things. Sullivan is a bad coach. Scratching Connor in favor of an injured Tkachuk and a dog shit Kreider is peak stupidity.
Jack is not a winger. He needs to play center and have control of the puck to be impactful.
Half this defense should not be on the olympic team.
Every Ranger player sucked.
Drury is shit, Guerin is shit.
Jack was under utilized be a brainlet of a coach, especially this game. He helped create some of the most dangerous chances early on then they dump him to play with worse players who were caved all game.

Technically that's not his guy but otherwise I'd agree. He was good defensively but he acted like a kid who has been smacked by his parents and flinches whenever they're around or there is a loud noise.

I think he’s playing where he’s supposed to be.

He covering the cross ice pass to the point, while paying attention to his side point and the half boards.

There are 2 guys down low who had neither the guy in the corner nor the slot, it’s one of those guys that need to be on a man. The wingers play more of a zone if the defenseman are at the point.

I can’t be mad. This tournament was great, and even though we lost, the championship game was an instant classic: tense, tightly played, with lead changes, OT drama, and ultimately, the best player in the sport ending it.

You couldn’t ask for a better mid-season tournament to draw interest to the game.

Too many dinosaurs managing the US team. And I agree that using Jack at wing was dumb. That being said he didn’t play well in ways that don’t have a lot to do with the position he was played in.

It was way better than my expectations going in, so I'm not upset about the outcome. Would have been nice to see Jack win, but we'll just have to wait until he and his brother(s) can celebrate Gold together.

LOL! McDavid with the half-hearted trophy skate. Why would that be?

It’s Mathews who blew the coverage as I watch the replay. He’s the center and has the net front by default and McDavid is his guy.

But mistakes happen eventually in OT. It’s a grind. You’re under pressure, all it takes is one split second uncertainty as to an assignment. But you’d think someone would be watching McDavid if you are keeping an eye on anybody.

Anyway the tournament turned out better than expected. Good hockey. A razors edge separated the two teams. McDavid’s maybe the best player in the league and made the difference.

In a game that went to OT, I wish we had had a full roster of our best players on the ice, the young legs. If Matthew Tkachuk likely couldn’t play he shouldn’t have dressed. No way Kreider should have played instead of Connor. We got outcoached in this game and that too was a difference. No way Brock Nelson should have been on this team over Tage Thompson. Did we really have no one better than Trocheck in all USA hockey?

Slavin and Werenski deserve all the credit in the world.

There was never any momentum to begin with.


Saturday is just going to be the NHL season resuming.

The Devils are in a good spot in the standings still.


But if you want to talk momentum anyway?

How about BRATT bringing his "momentum" off that game-winner against the U.S., and using it against Dallas this Saturday?

For such an important game Jack was playing like it was a throw away game in October. Austin Matthews should be embarrassed he sucked big time and couldn't score on open nets
