Both picks are symbolic of the issue with Hockey Canada management's mindset. They put a lot of stock in reputation and past results. Binnington has not proven much beyond his 2019 cup run and has not proven he can handle high pressure situations beyond that cup run. I don't think he has the focus needed for high pressure moments as evidenced by his tendency to have meltdowns mid game.
