Yes he's going to be top 6.. but what I'm saying is, if you are building a Team Canada to 'win', then you leave Mitch Marner at home because the guy is anything but a winner.

It's just an excuse to get guys on the team the coach wants.
I can understand Marner. It’s not a physical tournament, there won’t be much hitting. He’s an elite offensive and defensive player, he’s a great PKer.

There are worse options too. Like if they invite Barzal, Bedard, Celebrini, among others
This won’t be a popular take but I’d put Bedard on the team.

He’s the 2nd youngest player in the league on an absolute train wreck where he’s all by himself. Put him with a McDavid and he’ll score a billion goals.

I wouldn’t want Marner either. And that’s probably also an unpopular opinion.

Marchand is on the team and he absolutely sucks this year. They're going to play favorites per usual. Suzuki isn't one of those.

I believe Wilson is on the team to counter the Tkachuk brothers.

Too bad there isn't an All Star game as I'm pretty sure Caufield would have went to his 1st one. I don’t expect CC to make it either despite being the highest scoring American.

Oh well, they all get 2 weeks off now & can go have some fun in the sun. You know someone is getting injured in this tournament and if they don't it's probably because they're All Star quality games.
They’d be absolutely crazy not to put Caufield on the team but I can see it happening. He and Hughes have history together and would kill it.

We'll see about Marner. He kind of needs to be on this team. Because if he does nothing here, and does nothing during these playoffs again, I don't see how he gets on the Olympic team despite how good he is during regular season.

This is kind of setting the table for the next Winter Olympics. Suzuki doesn't seem to like to play ball with Hockey Canada, so I don't expect him to be on the Olympic team either.

He's been doing nothing in the playoffs, except crying in the penalty box, for 10 years now.

Sorry, I thought the announcement of the rosters was today. It's actually Wednesday. Oops.

Naturally, it's before the Leafs game on Sportsnet.

All the talk will be about Matthews with Team USA and Marner with Team Canada.

It’s interesting to see Misha Donskov on that staff

He’s someone I wanted to bring in the coaching staff when we hired MSL

He's been with Dallas last 2 years, but with Vegas for 4 years prior to that. DeBoer brought him with him from Vegas. He & DeBoer seem to be a coaching duo. Wherever DeBoer goes, Donskov follows. It's really doubtful he would have left that partnership for a rebuilding team in Montreal with MSL.
