Yup, Bedard and Celebrini types should been here. Younger legs. Marchand and those guys are on the back nine headed to the clubhouse
Marchand yesterday was like Gally for the Habs. When he tries hard to make his way to the goalie and ends making an easy shot to be stopped. He's not fast like he used to be. Americans are very fast in back checking and the defense is efficient. There is no free pucks and no second shot on goalie.

I wonder if the fans booing the anthem had any impact on the fights

Have to say outside of the top line, I think the US team is much better

Mackinnon-McDavid-Marner
Marchand-Crosby-Stone
Hagel-Point-Konecny
Bennett-Schiefele-Reinhart

Marchand & Stone shouldn't be here. They're too slow & can't forecheck. Both were perimeter players last night.

Hyman, Suzuki, Wilson, and Schiefele should all be here over Marchand, Stone, Cirelli & Jarvis.

Basically the guys a lot of people said shouldn't be on this team are proving they shouldn't be on this team.

Despite average goaltending, Montreal has the 8th best pk in NHL. Suzuki is a big part of that. He's also an inside player and strong on the boards. Kid's a bull.

Wilson is a huge part of Washington's pk can play with elite players, can skate & can bring jam. This team is missing a lot of jam.

I would take Celebrini over quite a few of the guys in the bottom 6 for Canada. He's an absolute puck hound with a ton of skill to go with it.

In a tight, mostly 5 on 5 game against other elite players we're seeing which guys need to rely on the PP and playing against other teams bottom lines to produce.

Love Suzuki but I don't think he was the answer. He's obviously better than Cirelli, Konecny, Jarvis, etc. but he's never really been a standout in international games to my knowledge and I don't think a bottom 6 role suits him that much anyways.

Hyman, Wilson, Scheifle, Celebrini in for Marchand, Cirelli, Konecny, Jarvis,

Even guys that are good players like Stone and Reinhart aren't looking great in this style of game.

Why can’t we ever pick the best teams. Cirelli, Jarvis, Marchand and on and on.. why do we always outsmart ourselves. The US has a better roster imo, but we didn’t help ourselves. Goaltending, once a Canadian strength now looks like w liability

Better depth. Maybe because of the choices. Suzuki is better than Larkin for example.
it's such a fast game. Larkin's speed is useful in these types of games.

Having said that, Suzuki is a wizard who has only played with so much talent in Montreal. What would he do playing with McDavid or McKinnon? I'd like to see it.

it seems Logan Thompson ended up having the best season of the Canadian goalies.

How did the selection commitee miss him?

That should definitely be Binnington's last game. Try Hill against Finland.

I would start Montembeault vs Finland . It's risky with how shaky he's been with the Habs since janurary but why not

Binnington made some good saves against the U.S but one could argue the first 2 goals he gave were quite soft.

Is it me or our country in general cannot produce skilled guys with strength and physicality anymore?

I get the impression guys from the US program are beasts both in size and strength.

Is their nutrition and strength training regimen different?

We are not going to beat that US team playing East West hockey. The goal we did score was about as North South as it gets. I've never seen a Canadian team as unlikely to score a 2 foot rebound goal as the one we've put together. For me it's crazy that the only goaltender to take a knock in the game was Binnington.

There were a lot of cross ice passes in the offensive zone. Sometimes it's good to try that to catch the opposition off guard. But it became predictable. Gotta get pucks to the net. Bennett, Stone, even Hagel can be hard net front presences. Put one on each of the top 3 lines.

Some players we may want to bring to the olympics:

- Tom Wilson - net front presence and toughness. Is he still fast?

- Suzuki - he's a wizard with the puck. He'll create.

- Scheifele- good all around

replace: Konecny, Jarvis, and Reinhart.

Cirelli and Hagel on team Canada is just insane.

Are we playing to win or what?

I've liked Hagel. Cirelli is there strictly for a defensive role.

All is good. Our top 3 is other worldly. Need to add talent and grit with talent. I don’t think 💭 ir D is bad at all with the missing three guys. Goalies?

Put ego aside and bring in Thompson for 2026. Get rid of DeBoer. And bring…St-Louis. (I’ll get booed myself for this) St-Louis LIVED the Olympics. He knows what they would need. And he certainly can relate. Plus, as a 3rd coach, he would be a player’s coach. That’s what they need. Not DeBoer.

Last night's game was the only one I have watched in this tournament, and it was a masterclass defensive effort by the Americans. They played a playoff-style game with all five players on the ice committed to shutting down Canada's big three.

Canada was limited to a perimeter attack with no chance of getting to the middle of the ice. McDavid took some big hits, and Crosby looked very human. I don't know how to describe what I saw from Marner. He was invisible, and I can understand why Leaf fans are frustrated by his play in important games.

We might win the whole thing but there will need to be some adjustments by Cooper and Makar needs to be ready to play because our D isn't creating anything.

Is it me or we look and feel older than USA , we got some old dudes on our team do they even have one?
It’s important that we play with a lead - or at least not at a deficit. They just trapped and clogged the zone once they went up by a goal.

Secondly, East West won’t work in that situation. We need to shoot pucks, go to the net… all the greasy stuff you need to get ugly goals.

I don’t think we look old but I do think goaltending has shown itself to be a real liability. It never should’ve gone to OT vs Sweden but we gave up two softies. Last night another one and the second goal was stoppable as well (it was a perfect shot on a 2 on 1 so I won’t call it soft.)
