Yeah, no doubt if they're on the ice together.
US is a strong team, next game should be great.

I watched about 10 minutes last night.
Watched the condensed 1st. game on NHL.com.

Probably watch some of the Canada - America game, depending on what else is on.

Still expect the Americans to win it.

Did Mack bet on himself to score the OT winner?

He flat out refused to pass the puck in OT.

Had McDavid open on the 2 on 1 and shot it square into the goalie.

100% agreed .. McJesus play style is fast and furious to da net .. Mitch can't get there in time whereas Mack could be there just as fast if not faster .. likely Mack wants to play with Syd even though he says he will play with anyone .. somehow I think da USA game will force da change .. basicly we don't get Mitch's skills on full display with McJesus .. 2 completely different playing styles

For sure. Imo Knies and McMann are interchangeable. I just think Matthews plays his best with a speedy winger. Matthews clearly likes to have fast zone entries. So I think that’s the one thing McMann can bring is that he’s so fast and can enter the zone similar to how Matthews was entering the zone yesterday.

Ya I think coaches working with Matthews need to have a better read on his work rate. So you need a “metronome” player who can help him keep an up tempo pace. I think when he’s in a skillsy environment too long he’s prone to just dialing down the work rate.

I don't know why this stuff is obvious to a bunch of guys on a forum but professional coaches can't figure it out. Spend all season with a coach who can't figure out proper line combos just to get another one in the big tourney.

My theory is not that big of a stretch. The US would likely prefer to play Sweda in the championship game and maybe they have a slight letdown after beating Canada.

And yes, teams can beat teams that beat teams that beat them.

Pretty bad if Marner nullifies our best player. Cooper needs to make a change if the line looks as bad as it did against Sweden, no matter what the fancy stats say.

I questioned it before the Sweden game when I compared the players on McDavid's Team Canada line to his Oilers linemates. Hyman should have made the team and played with McDavid. Then you find somebody who can score (i.e. Reinhart) like Draisaitl does. Marner can't dig pucks out or play in tight like Hyman can and he can't score 5 vs 5.. He is better driving his own line and leaving the goal scoring to the men.
 
Loading McDavid and MacKinnon on the same line makes zero sense.

1) They are the top 2 centers on the team and should be used as such.
2) They are both player drivers and puck carriers
3) Having all that explosive speed on one line is not as good as having it on the ice for 40 mins of the game.
4) Crosby and MacKinnon already have loads of chemistry from years and years of training together.

Load up ocassionally throughout the game maybe, but regular shifts they should he apart which is why they are.

My take away is that McD is a line by himself. His wingers need to know how to play off him.
MM is not really best suited with McD.
I would switch Point to play with McD and have MM with Cirelli and Hagel. That way, MM is leading that line

It was a massive speed mismatch the whole game. McDavid was carrying the puck deep by himself, stopping behind the net going the other way and Mitch was just catching up.

Mitch is better suited with Crosby as a C.

A lot of people have commented lately about Marner losing some speed and he sure seems to be stumbling a lot, I'm starting to guess that his ankle injury from last year may be affecting him, they would never disclose that for obvious reasons plus it could cost him money... and he doesn't go to the net... and he likes to hang on to the puck... it just comes off as kind of a lazy coaching decision without much thought behind it.

I think they’re letting McDavid go wild hoping he can either score or set one up and using Marner as a defensive safety net.

It's going to be "uge" it's going to be great. We're going to raise the Tariffs on the ticket sales actually. It'll help everyone out. Canada has been too good actually against us for too long (said in trump voice).

Seriously though... really looking forward to it. Canada needs this one. Need the 3 points. It should be a really good tilt. They're probably the 2 best teams in it. Hurts we only got 2 points the last game. Need a big win here. I worry about the defence though. Bing just needs to make the big saves. We'll need big games from crosby and mcdavid. Very doable.
