To be fair he is used to things just being handed to him. But ya, not a good look to not be able to congratulate your longtime linemate teammate. I hope that was just taken AFTER he did.

I'm an American Leaf fan. Congrats to Team Canada. Great game!!! You had the revenge factor from Saturday and played that card well. Our turn next year living with this loss. Our crowd booing your anthem was dumb. I understand why you boo ours at this moment, don't really like it but I also understand you have no interest in being the 51st state. So back to NHL hockey, kind of a letdown now after this tournament. Regardless GO LEAFS GO!!!

Good question, honestly I'm not sure.
On the bigger ice if they may opt for more speed on the wing, but if he finishes the year strong and carries it into next season it'll help. Since he wasn't on this roster it's a fair bet he's got to play his way onto the team & push out someone that was on the 4 Nations roster.
Knies would be a good fit on that team. Another year under his belt and I think he will be ready.

The player that I was most impressed with from team USA was Werenski.
Fantastic moving the puck, solid defensively and finishes the tournament with 6 points that leads the event.
He's always been a really good player but this tournament along with his season with the bluejackets, has really pushed him up the rankings.

Cooper showed why he's the best Coach in the World, he pushed the right buttons at the right time all tournament.

I've read and seen a few ppl mention fox as the one.... I'm not the one to watch and break up plays and explain what happened, but blaming Matthews probably just gets more rage bait clicks. I duno , I could be wrong. Here is one example I read from someone dissecting the play
"the last goal was on Fox for chasing the puck carrier behind the net which you learn not to do in pee wees and Matthews had to leave his coverage to cover for him"
Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just as curious as well if it's all on Matthews or not.
The 1st two periods was pretty even, but the 3rd period and overtime, Binnington saved Canada so you're right he deserves more recognition.

He was easily one of the least effective guys on the ice in that game. I was a little surprised. Hard to believe Conner would not have been better than that.
Matthews and Eichel were about the only two that put some fear in me. Guentzel is a really good player too but he was generally taken care of tongiht other that the game winning pass he made to Matthews that Binnington threw to the corner.

It went to Makar on the point and Fox came from his side thinking there was a shot incoming and checked Point out front. Makar was already wringing it around the boards to a now all alone Marner while Fox skated behind the net to catch up to the play but he had effectively taken himself out of the situation. Matthews then rushed to pressure Marner but was too late and got caught not being able to impede the pass and not covering McDavid out front.
Beauty hockey by Canada there that left maybe the best playmaker in the league with loads of time to pass it out to the best player in the world for the winner.
This all happened really fast too. Matthews takes some blame here of course but Matthews was the best player on the ice that game for the US driving play the entire game for them. He should be proud for how he played all tourney.

Marner's pass to McDavid is more impressive after watching the replay. Need a hockey expert to tell us who should have had McDavid. What I saw was Matthews and Fox going towards an open Marner with the puck. Unfortunately for both, Marner was too quick and put the puck on McDavid's tape and that was game set and match.
I was not there but am a ST in Boston and agree. They are loud and I am so happy I didn't go as the USA chants are so annoying and MAGA hats puke worthy.
You might be surprised that there were quite a few STH and fans who were cheering for Canada. Some because of Brad Marchand and many because....well you know.
Binnington was great!

Agreed, really good player who gets overlooked playing in Columbus.
Biggest surprise for me was Brady Tkachuk is a much better player than I gave him credit for, Still a dislikable dick though.

For Canada, the players who's last name started with M, really were the main contributors. McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar, Marner and MBinnington.

Check post 3518 just couple posts up. Zybalto explains it pretty good after asking about it as well where I read somewhere that Fox was the main mistake that started it all.
