Also, there were a lot of question marks around Binnington, and for the most part justifiably so, but man did he ever come through in OT. Spectacular.

Just dropping by to say how well Mitch Marner played, Canada's best skater today and sparked Mcdavid who had nothing before Mitch was put on his line. I know a lot has been made of his playoff struggles, but when he plays assertive like he did tonight, there are not a lot of players who can keep up with his skill and smarts.

I admit my enthusiasm going into this tournament was low but that changed very quickly.
What a tournament. So much energy and pride was brought by all four nations. Loved it. Well done.
Naturally it adds to my excitement that Canada won but either way, I was invested.

Definitely had 2010 vibes. My whole house was screaming. Had my brothers over. Was an amazing night
I think Marchand is done, he won’t be on the Olympic roster. Doughty still has some juice left!!
I think maybe this tournament will be an eye opener for him. He doesn’t need all the money. Maybe this tournament allows him to realize how important winning is and feels. That’s my hope.

Fox went for a little skate around the net for no reason and Matthews kind of drifted into the space he left open but yeah Marner is not gonna hurt you from there, you gotta stay put. oh well!

That's a terrible take. All goalies make mistakes regularly, including each year's Vezina and Cup winners. Binnington let in a couple he shouldn't have, but another goalie likely does the same. The reason Canada outright lost (only) one game in the tourny was because they couldn't score in the first game vs. the USA. He was maybe just "average" or good, but a million miles from "dog shit". Get some perspective.

Marner was really key to the win, with those 2 lovely feeds for goals. Makar was great; the Macs too, of course.
Not a lot of space out there. Sometimes I think these kind of short tournaments would be more entertaining if 4-on-4 because we'd actually see the best players showing their stuff more.
Anyway, it was a nice tournament, but I kind of hope the NHL doesn't beat it to death by doing it every season from now on. It'll soon become like the Winter "Classic", where it's boring by about the third time.
